I would suggest you to go for IT in NIT Kurukshetra.

The reason for NIT Kurukshetra being better than NIT Jalandhar in terms of placement,faculty and infrastructure.

There are number of tech companies which visit NIT Kurukshetra for placements offering a very high package,25-30Lpa.

So as per my suggestion NIT KURUKSHETRI is better than NIT JALANDHAR.

Nit jalandhar is much better than mmm gorakhpur in cs placement if we just look at average placement at nit jalandhar it is 10 lakhs for cse and while in mmm gorakhpur it ranges from 3 to 4 lakhs per annum. Plus nit jalandhar is an institute of national importance.

You should go for cs in nsit as nsit being situated in delhi placements are awesome here top companies like google, Amazon, Microsoft come for campus placement and delhi being the hub of all exams like upsc, ssc-cgl etc. you can prepare here.

         According to your percentile, your rank will be somewhere around 57000 to 55000. NIT Jalandhar has a closing rank of 9951 for gender neutral and 5347 for the female category for CSE course. And it has recorded almost no special round for CSE course. Thus it is not possible to get a CSE in NIT Jalandhar. You may try for other courses like biotechnology, civil, chemical, electrical engineering etc in NIT Jalandhar if interested.

If you are from home state then you can get any branch you want except CSE, IT with your rank.

If you are from other state you can get Bio technology, chemical, mechanical, production engineering with your rank.

Since the cutoff for IIT'S and NIT'S are much higher.The minimum cutoff for General category is between 80-90 percentile and it mostly depends upon your category.

I would only suggest you not to worry and try again next time if you feel so,you have got 1 more attempt to get that place in an IIT or NIT .

According to your percentile, your rank would be around 50k to 60k.

From this rank, you will not be able to get a seat in NIT Jalandhar.

You have a good chance in SLIET, Longowal because closing rank in the previous three years has been around 50k to 55k mark.

You also have a great chance in YMCA, Faridabad, and UIET, Chandigarh.

According to me, you should go for a college which offers you your desired branch and in which you are able to clear the cutoff of your favorite branch.

I would suggest IIIT Lucknow because for branch IT has got a better placement opportunities as compared to mechanical in India.

The higest package offered to IT was around 30 lakhs per annum where as in NIT. Jalandhar highest package for mechanical was 20 lakhs per annum

IIIT Lucknow being a new college got its first batch placement so well so you dont have to worry about the placements there.
