I got 97.04 percentile in jee mains february attempt ... Can i get admission in electrical engineering at nit jalandhar (Home State).. please help!!!

ADITYA KUMAR Student Expert 25th Aug, 2021

Hi

With  97.04 percentile

It is quite difficult to make prediction but yes as per past year trend ,

In 6th round of josaa counselling 2020,  31928 rank for general category for gender neutral  for home state was closing rank to get a seat in  Electrical Engineering in NIT Jalandhar

So, with 30281 - 34040 rank you have boundary chances in elecrical in nit jalandhar

You can check the same at

https://josaa.nic.in/Result/Result/currentorcr.aspx

In NIT jalandhar with your rank under   home state   you have very good chances in branches like

  • Chemical Engineering (4 Years, Bachelor of Technology):-62031

  • Civil Engineering:- 55528

  • Mechanical Engineering :- 38914

You can check the same at

https://josaa.nic.in/Result/Result/currentorcr.aspx

This above prediction is on the past year data basis but  cut closing rank for colleges changes every year depending upon factors like number of candidates that write jee main examination, difficulty level of the question paper for different shifts of jee main etc so

To have a personalised report on your chances of getting a college you can go through our college predictor, it will give you complete list of colleges which you can get on the basis of the category you belong to,  your home state, your gender etc, the link for  jee main college predictor is provided below

which is better in terms of placements nit jalandhar electrical or pec chandigarh mechanical ??

Abhishek Roy 23rd Aug, 2021

Both NIT Jalandhar Electrical as well as PEC Chandigarh Mechanical have equally good Placements. However, Electrical Engineering definitely have greater scope and wider career scope and prospects, secondly the NIT Tag, does give some recognition and benefits during finding Internships & Projects. Hence, incase you dont have any such liking towards Mechanical Engineering, prefer Electrical at NIT Jalandhar over PEC Chandigarh.

hello sir i am Jyoti Suthar 4th year mechatronics student my question is if i go for electrical for gate then i am eligible for for psu or not please please tell me

Subhrajit Mukherjee 14th Jul, 2021

See if you clear the GATE Electrical paper then obviously you are eligible for the PSU but you need to have satisfy the qualification eligibility as asked by the PSU you are applying in. At this moment, if you search for the basic qualifications of most of the psu then there are no such eligibility conditions through which you can apply. So its better for you to pursue your MTech in a more broader field and then you can apply for jobs or postitions. Although Mechatronics is a vast subject and there are need of such engineers in different sectors such as Air Force,Aircraft Engineering, Oceanography, Oil and Gas etc. So there are chances for you to get chances in Mechanical Engineering related field of expertise. So its better for you to qualify GATE MECHANICAL than Electrical. That way you may get scope in PSU who have eligibility criteria of Mechanical Engineering.

I hope this answer helps. All the very best for your future endeavors!

Hello sir/mam, what should I opt for - b.tech in CSE or b.tech in ee in JGEC? (I have no idea about both the fields)

ayanmukherjee045 22nd Aug, 2021

Dear aspirant,

As you have mentioned that you want to opt between cse b.tech or ee in jgec so I would recommend you to take cse in these colleges because the placements or the engineering sector at West bengal is not good except at ju and iem.

So, if you would take cse there would be maximum chances for you to get placed because there are numerous companies which comes for recruitment.
