I Hav finished Bsc in biotech. I chose to do MBA. Im not that great in math. if I dont get into IIM Xavier FMS whc other clgs r best

Jaswant Saxena 15th Sep, 2017
There are many people who excel at two sections in CAT and score less in one (mostly unintentionally and/or because of time management issues) and nonetheless such aspirants end up in top colleges since there overall CAT percentile is decent. So I would suggest you not to give up hope and prepare well and give CAT a shot.
Now coming back to your background, since your qualification add to the diversity factor you will have those points which will compensate the lack of maths skills. Now about the colleges, you can refer to the Career360 ranking and choose among them but I would you to make a list of around 10 colleges which are categorized as your best-case scenario colleges, realistic scenario college and backup colleges. I hope this answer helps you.

What should be my CAT 17 percentile and how can I get a call from IIM (A,B,C,L,I,K), FMS, and XLRI?

Suraj Mallick 7th Jul, 2018

I am assuming you are from general category. Based on your overall academic profile, you will need to score atleast 99.4 percentile in CAT to get a call for the next round.

If I get score above 99 percentile, which bschool should I prefer? Iims or fms?

Rashid Ali 23rd Sep, 2017
There's a reason people like an IIM tag. It still carries certain weight in the market.
IIM ABC virtually started at the same time, if not later, as FMS and they are the preferred choice of >95% of those who convert both. So it's safe to infer that ABC values more than FMS
IIM-L on the other hand is 30 years old, much younger than FMS, and yet people are often ambivalent between the two. Thus, it's hard to compare FMS and IIM-L

What these observations tell us is thatan IIM has a higher growth rate in terms of B-school brand value. Thus, there may be a possibility that FMS could lose out to IIM Indore also in the coming 10-15 years.

Does Fms gives weightage to past academic??

Nishant Lamba 24th Aug, 2017
No. FMS gives weightage to only CAT score (85%), Extempore(5%) and Personal Interview(10%). It doesn't consider your past scores of 10th, 12th or graduation but they may ask about your scores in the personal interview and The candidates should be graduates in any discipline from a recognized university or institute with minimum 50% marks in aggregate. The minimum aggregate percentage for the reserved category candidates is 45% or equivalent CGPA. Over 2000 candidates are shortlisted for the Extempore and PI rounds for the 200 seats in the MBA Full Time (FT) programme. The fee for the 2 year programme is approximately Rs. 20,000.
