iam pursuing my bsc computer science 3rd year, am i eligible dor GATE exam?

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 9th Dec, 2019

Keerthana, for being eligible for GATE, you should have passed Graduation in Engineering/Technology. Or alternatively have a Master's degree in relevant subject. Now because B.Sc Computers Science is not an Engineering/Technology degree, you should have atleast a Master's degree to appear for GATE. what is the score required in gate exam

Abhishek Roy Student Expert 8th Dec, 2019
Hey!There
GATE score is calculated out of 1000.1000 is set as reference and marks you obtained out of 100marks is converted into 1000.Generally cuttoff of PSUs and  IITs are in rank and score.Cuttoff score for PSUs and IITs is different for different stream. You haven't mentioned your interested stream. It is tough to mention cuttoff score of each PSUs and IITs for each stream. In core stream 900+ score is considered for PSUs and 750+ for IITs for students belonging to General category.
I hope this helps..

what are the jobs that we get through gate exam

Kanupriya Gupta 8th Dec, 2019

The GATE examination is jointly conducted by the Indian Institute for Science, Bangalore (IISc, Bangalore) and the seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) . However, these institutes are only concerned with the administration  of the exam and not  with  the setting up of the question paper. This exam is one of honour and reputation because of its linkage with the most renowned Universities and the opportunities and career prospects after the examination.

Some of the career prospects are:

1)PHD Entrance opportunities: A valid GATE score followed with an interview session could get you into a good PHD course. This course will expand your scope of research, ensure stipend and also give you a benefit of meeting the requirement for the job of an Assistant Professor at the ITI/ISC.

2. Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) Entrance: The GATE exam has become very popular after the setting up of a highly advantageous recruitment process as numerous public-sector units (PSUs) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with  theIITs. Thus, clearing the GATE examination opens a direct doorway to government sector jobs. The jobs are known for their support towards higher education, high pay package and the work life balance.

The recruitment stages are:

a) An eligible GATE score of the specific year

b) A Group Discussion (GD)round

c)A  Personal Interview (PI).

3) Fellowship Program in Management: Your gate score grants you access to this five year program that runs at the IIMs. This course offers you a monthly stipend and you are not required to pay any tuition fee for four years and nine months. There is also the perk of getting an housing allowance.

Hope this helps! All the best!
