How to prepare for gate 2021(currently in 6th sem)? Is this much of time sufficient for 2021?

niharika cherry 6th Dec, 2019

Hello kaushik, yes,the time is sufficient for preparation for Gate 2021, if you are currently enrolled into any gate coaching, continue that, if not take a good online gate coaching but if you feel you can prepare on your own, then self study is the best. Make a good time table and dedicate those hours for your gate, check the cutoffs, be knowledged about the syllabus, exam time, pattern and previous years question paper. For any other information check https://engineering.careers360.com/exams/gate .

Hope this helps.

Thank you.

how to prepare for gate if there is no coaching availble

Nivesh Pai 4th Dec, 2019
Hello Aarav,
I would recommend to follow the below tips :
1. Create flashcards (writing short notes in small rectangle sized papers) which can help you in remembering before the final exams.
2. Take an online course. There are several free courses on the internet and also on specific topics. Also youtube videos is an excellent option.
3. Practice questions papers from the last 5-10 years. 2-5 questions will be repeated based on those concepts.
4. Try taking test based on a stopwatch or a clock in your home. You can judge what time is required to solve a particular question and allocate time accordingly.
5. Have a healthy diet and avoid junk food.
6. In case you have more time for preparation try referring to foreign authors too.
7. Do not skip the aptitude part, it carries equal weightage in addition to maths subject.

I have done MSc electronics, for which GATE exams can apply physics or electronics and communication or anything else

Nivesh Pai 4th Dec, 2019
Hello Anita,
Even though you have completed MSc in electronics, you have the option to switch branches if you clear gate and get a college. For example a student who studied mechanical engineering at xyz college can apply for Computer science branch at iit, nit, iiit and other top tier colleges through his gate score. To get admitted in top branches you need to have a high score in gate examination.
