There is No restriction on the number of attempts of GATE. Even many professors and lecturers gave the exam every year to test their knowledge. You can give multiple shots at the GATE exam if you are not able to qualify for the exam in the first attempt. Moreover, the validity of GATE score is 2 years till 2014, from 2107 the validity is increased to 3 years.

There's no attempt limit for GATE examination so you can appear for gate exam as many times as you want but you should work hard and try to clear it in the 1st or at least in the second attempt. If you are going to appear for GATE 2020 then I would like to tell you that GATE 2020 exam is going to be conducted by IIT Delhi . Online registration for GATE 2020 is going to start in the month of September 2019. Also there's no age limit in GATE exam, so you don't need to worry about that as well.

Candidate must have completed B.E./ B.Tech. in relevant stream. Candidates having GATE score in 2017 will be given preference over candidates having score of 2018, or 2019. In qualifying degree, the candidates should have passed and secured at least 6.5 CGPA (on a 10- point scale) for Gen/ OBC or 6.0 CGPA (on a 10-point scale) for SC/ST. In case, result of qualifying degree is awaited, provisional admission is permitted to a candidate subject to meeting above minimum qualification marks.

Dear Priya, IIT Delhi has closed its GATE 2020 applications with late fees on October 5th 2019. It has also mentioned that it wont be accepting any offline applications. So unfortunately if you have not been able to fill in the application, there is no way out. You have to wait until the next year when GATE applications are available for 2021. For 2020, you have no chances for filling out GATE application form anymore.
