What is the correct time to start the preparation or GRE examination?

Prashant_1553778274 Student Expert 8th Apr, 2019

Hello Rupam,

Well there are individual differences and people vary in capabilities. Having said that, there is no exact time to start preparing for GRE. It varies from person to person. Since the score is valid for 5 years, some people choose to take it very early, whereas some people leave it for the end. The ideal time to take the GRE would be around 1 to 1.5 years before you intend on joining a university. To be on the safe side, you should start preparing for the exam around 3 months before you take it. If you give the GRE at an early date, you will have sufficient time to research your options and narrow down on a probable list of universities. Again, it completely depends on the person.

Hope this helps. All the best.

Hi Valu,
As you mentioned for GRE, so go for it. It is most prestigious exam for BTECH students.
Also yes definitely you will get your stream as well. & when it comes to abroad, you will get more opportunities & exposure.
So, if you can able to go abroad, so please go abroad. & do internships.
& when it comes to choosing university, first you score well in GRE, then you will have lots of time to think.
I will recommend you to go for CANADA or USA. Because, in that countries specially in USA, lots of Top companies headquarters are their & you will get a great kick in career from the beginning.
Hope you get it.
Best of luck for your future.

I completed my graduation in 2016, but I have a gap of about 3 years now in my education with no work exp. Am I still eligible for GRE?

Shreya Singh Student Expert 14th May, 2019

Hello student,

GRE's only criteria is that you should have completed you graduation from a university recognised by UGC. As you have done this, you are eligible for sitting for GRE examination.

But know  this that the colleges won't give you preference while taking admission, as you have 3 years gap with no work experience. You need to score too high to make a chance.

Cheers!!

Hi,what are the procedures and require necessity to apply for GRE to study in US for MBA course.

Himanshu Malik 2nd Apr, 2019

Dear aspirant....!!

Here we have explained the entire process of applying for an MS programme in the USA, right from the time one needs to do research till final submission of the application form.

Read ahead to know the exact steps to apply for MS in the US:

1. Choose universities

The first step while applying for MS in the US is to make a list of universities which offer the candidate's choice of programme. This should be done around the months of May or June of the previous year. Ideally, one should start the process of admission at least 15 months prior to admission. While the US admission cycle has three intakes --Fall, Spring and Summera majority of the programmes start in Fall i.e., around September.

2. Check deadlines

Once the candidate has made a list of the colleges of his choice, the next step should be to check the deadlines of the specific courses the candidate is applying for. Usually, universities in the US do not have a common deadline for all courses. Therefore, it is necessary to check the individual departments of the universities to know the opening and closing dates for applications to MS in the US. Usually, applications for Fall start around September and close between December-January, though some universities accept applications till February.

Also, the flexibility offered by the USA allows the student to apply for the course through three plans - Early admission plan, Regular admission and Rolling admission. Regular admission plan follows the same procedure of setting deadlines for admission by universities every year. On the other hand, early admission allows an aspirant to apply and fix admission before the start of the Regular admission. Rolling admission has the advantage of making application to the university of one's choice anytime of the year, provided there are vacant seats.

Hope your query is solved!

All the best!

Manidipa Kundu Student Expert 10th May, 2019

during the time of interview or counselling if you donot have any current backlog then that will not effect to get you a good colleges. australian colleges accept upto 7 backlogs where canadian colleges allow upto 5 backlogs. however to get a decent college you need to have atleast 65% marks in your undergraduate degree course.

for admission in top 10 universities how much the gre score should be?

Krushnalee Surve 7th May, 2019
Hello,

The top 10 universities may differ in terms of the stream you want to pursue and the countries you wish to go to. Many universities such as the University of Chicago or University of Oxford are considered the best in almost all spheres.

To get into one of the best universities, you must have an exceptional GRE score, of more than 325 with around 160 in the Quant section and around 160 in the Verbal section. The score in the Analytical Writing section should be 4.5 or more. Along with a good GRE score, you must have a good CGPA in all semesters of your college as well.

Hiiii I completed my pu 2nd year moreover I like to have an next step via GRE exam

Priya 4th May, 2019
Hello Vamshi!

GRE scores are valid for a period of 5 years.
And it's advisable to have some Job experience before you go for MS.

So considering that, you're generally advised to give your GRE exam at the end of third year or start of fourth year of BE / BTECH. If you're not satisfied with your score, you can immediately give another attempt.

So right now you can concentrate on your 1st 2 years of college as your GPA & CGPA in college also count.
You can start preparing from third year.

Hope this helps :)
Best of luck!
