I am taking the GRE test in my 3rd year, and I want to apply to university after 1.5 year ? the free score sending on test day will help ?

R.R.KARTHIKA 3rd May, 2019
Hi
Yes, definitely it will be helpful.  When you send score to a particular college,  the scores will be in their database.  So before sending the scores,  be sure to choose or select colleges before in hand. So that , you can easily select respective universities.  What my suggestion is,  better you give your exams in end of 3rd or 4th year , so that chances of  your admission are very high.

hi sir now i completed my msc in mathematics so which test i need to write to get phd admission in canada ,gre general or subject test?

Sujata Tripathi 25th Mar, 2019
For PhD in Canada, the universities consider IELTS and TOEFL(IBT) scores.
The general breakdown of TOEFL(IBT) scores:
ibT reading: 22
ibT writing : 21
ibT listening : 22
ibT Speaking: 21

IELTS overall score requirement:
Out of 7.0
IELTS reading : 6.5
IELTS writing : 6.5
IELTS listening : 6.5
IELTS Speaking : 6.5

Along with these, it's important to have written research papers in your field. The letter of recommendations from your professors, internships you have done, and other extra curricular activities that diversify your profile are important to secure a seat. Good luck.

How much required for the preparation of GRE exam

sahanahegde44 16th Dec, 2020

Hello Aspirant,

Hope your doing good!

Keeping all the points that we have mentioned in mind; the GRE preparation will take around 4 weeks to 20 weeks. If you include the mock tests that you would need to take , the preparation time can go from a minimum of 6 weeks to a maximum of 24 weeks.

That’s a wide range, and it also doesn’t account for the different ways in which people prepare for the GRE. People may take practice tests, read up on the different exam sections, skim old notes from school, buy and read a GRE prep book,

Below are estimates of approximately how many hours you need to study in order to raise your score by a certain number of points. These numbers indicate how much you need to study to raise your GRE score by that many points across BOTH sections. So, in 40 hours, you could raise your score for each section by about  2.5 points (5 points total).

5 points = 40 hours

10 points = 80 hours

20 points = 160 hours

30 points = 240 hours

hope this helps, for more such queries ping us below!

Thankyou, Good luck for everything ahead :)

Im planning for MS in Industrial Psychology, so should I give a GRE general test or a GRE psychology test?

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 10th Mar, 2019
Dear Yogita, there are 2 types of GRE Tests: GRE General and GRE Subject Test. The General GRE Test tests your overall knowledge through a Standardised test. However, GRE Subject test tracks your performance in a specific subject and this will help you have an edge over other candidates who have taken GRE general test. The Institution knows forehand your capabilities and knowledge in Psychology before you even take an admission. So subject test is helpful than the General GRE test.

Im studying veterinary medicine, how should I prepare for GRE subject test?

D Nishant Kumar 7th Mar, 2019
Hey Rithu ,

Graduate schools prefer students who are already set on the field and probably not the ones unsure about what to do next . GRE test is one way to show that you are one of those . Apart from measuring the depth of your knowledge on your preferred subject it tests the analytical skills and Reasoning abilities too . You need to get prepared for verbal , quantitative and analytical Reasoning .
Being a student from veterinary medicine you must be having strong knowledge on biology , which is one of the subjects in the area . You can get the material online for the same too . Apart from that once you apply for the test ETS ( educational Test service ) will mail you the extra course of materials needed .

You must know in most of the graduate schools , decisions are made by individual departments separately . So say you did well at one portion of the subject , proving your skill but could not managed to stumble on other , this won't make you outperformed . Rather the skills you are expert at will get noticed giving you advantage .

Total time is 2 hours and 50 minutes . For every four questions you get wrong , you loose a correct one . Performing the subject test well will fetch all the attention their instead of your personal interviews or letter of recommendation . They see if the student stands succesful in the field he or she has opt for . And you can only justify the same by your scores .

1 . Start by taking practice test . This will give you a probable idea on the matter you are going to reveal .
2. Get a prep study booklet from a good publisher . Familiarise yourself to the content .
3 . Take to continuous practice test to test your skills and let you know on the fields you lag . Latter you can focus on those areas .
4 . You can get the study practice book in PDF format too .

  • Note that GRE biochemistry and molecular biology test were terminated back in December 2016
  • You give the test 3 times a year , September , October and April .
Moreover , GRE being one of the most coveted exam , needs pro level preparation and planning. You can Persue your career abroad in countries like Singapore , Canada and USA . Just a single entrance test that gives to ample of postgraduate options based on your field of reference .
Make sure to prepare from the ETS guides , they have a sync to the actual GRE test .
ETS even offers a comprehensive guide for clearing concepts too .

I hope the information has been helpful . For any further information feel free to ask .

All the best .
Thank you.
