Hi all, can anyone let me know about "SELF SPONSORED M.TECH" courses in IITs? Thanks

Yaseera Bhombal 15th Dec, 2021

Hi Voleti,

Lets Begin by comparing the sponsored and non sponsored MTech

  • The standard M.Tech. programme lasts two years. While sponsored M.Tech. courses are divided into two categories: I full-time M.Tech. programmes lasting two years; and (ii) part-time M.Tech. programmes lasting two years. (ii) A three-year part-time M.Tech. programme is available.
  • As candidates enrol in courses through GATE, sponsored candidates do not receive any financial benefits. The complete cost of such candidates' study is covered by the sponsoring corporation.
  • Candidates with two years of relevant work experience who are sponsored by their employer or self are excused from the requirement of a GATE score. Teaching/Research Assistantships are not available to them.
  • Sponsored candidates who have been shortlisted are chosen through a written test and/or an interview.

Eligibility

  • Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technology, or Architecture, or an equivalent degree, with a cumulative grade point average of at least 60% over four years.
  • For candidates who fall into the ST/SC category, a minimum of 55 percent is required.
  • Candidates must have two years of professional experience in the sponsoring institute after completing their qualifying degree as of April 30, 2022.

How to Apply

The only difference is the link you use to apply for MTech at any given IIT, which is the same as applying for a sponsored one. For instance, at IIT Hyderabad, they have separate URLs for sponsored and non-supported students.

Hope that answers your question

12th board percentage is 74% admission in IITs???

Prangya panda 14th Dec, 2021

Hello,

To get into IITs, the 12th mark is not much important, but your JEE MAINS and JEE ADVANCED exam scores are very much important. So, it's good you have scored well in your 12th board exam but your JEE MAINS and JEE ADVANCED score should also need to be well. Also, it depends on the cut-off scores of the exams.

Hope your doubts are cleared now. Thank you.

My 12th Board percentage is 74% kya mai IITs me addmission le sakta hun? SC Category Student!

Anurag Khanna 11th Dec, 2021

Hello Aspirant,

Yes you would be definitely eligible for JEE-Advance and for admission to IITs.

See if you have PCM as your subject combination in your 10+2 along with ne language subject then you are definitely eligible for admission to IITs, provided that you clear JEE-Advance with good score. See earlier their was criteria of 75%(65% for SC candidates), which says that only those candidates would be eligible for JEE-Advance who secure equal to or more than 75%(65% for SC candidates) in their respective boards in 10+2 or should be in the top 20 percentile of their board results, but this criteria has been lifted off for session 2020-21 and 2021-22 because of Corona pandemic.

Also note that to appear for JEE-Advance you must qualify JEE-Main and only then you will be eligible to appear for JEE-Advance otherwise not. To qualify JEE-Main you will have to clear the JEE-Main qualifying cut-offs which are to be released every year along with the JEE-Main result. For this year it is mentioned below :-

==>> Common Rank List (CRL) - 87.8992241-100.0000000 Percentile

==>> GEN-EWS - 66.2214845-87.8950071 Percentile

==>> Other Backward Classes (OBC-NCL) - 68.0234447-87.8950071 Percentile

==>> Scheduled Caste (SC) - 46.8825338-87.8950071 Percentile

==>> Scheduled Tribe (ST) - 34.6728999 87.8474721 Percentile

==>> PwD - 0.0096375-87.8273359 Percentile

What will happen if the government stops funding IITs and IIMs?

Prajwal Vishwakarma 28th Dec, 2021

Hello ,

IITs and IIMs are the top most institutes in the country which produce exceptional students , which and this students gets placed in the top companies with very high packages , or they become successful enterpreneur , successful business men, become IAS or IPS officers or serve the country in many other ways , also in some cases they get placed abroad with very high packages , so indirectly they help a lot in growing the economy of the country , so the government is not going to stop funding these institutes completely , but as per the new instructions given by the HRD , no new IITs will be funded for making swimming pools , shopping complex , cafeteria , conventional hall with more than 500 seating capacity . But the government has not stopped funding for important things , so it is really hard for government to stop there fundings.

Hope it helps ,

Should I do CSE core or CSE with specialization??? Im asking this cuz im little bit confused regarding the debate that only core isnt enough or go for core bcuz in india there is no good faculties for specialization other than iits..... What should i do???

pandeyadarsh951 18th Jan, 2022

There is no direct evidence that you will be disregarded somewhere if you do ot have a cse specialization degree yet if you such a degree than that is going to do just good to you and there will be no harm in core cse you are taught about everything in cse but within limits of each topic whereas in specialization you take up a subject where in you study deeper like AI cloud computing or data science although people with specialization are preferred but if you have appropriate coding skills then it hardly matters but yes if you get a chance to do a specialization degree then you should definitely go forward.

when will nits and iits will start offline classes for 1st year btech

Muskan Shokeen 2nd Dec, 2021

Hello Aspirant.

Now there is no information regarding this when NITs and IITs start off line classes for the freshers. Although they are already opened for the Senior students  with all the COVID protocols and guidelines. Hopefully, once the pandemic is fully under control, and all will get vaccinated with the COVID shot they may open the colleges but you may expect the academic session 2022-23 from July, August next year, to be conducted offline.

ALL THE BEST AND HOPE THIS HELPS.

Thankyou.
