IMA
Hey Rahul
i assume that you are talking about the Indian Military Academy which you can join via CDS SSB after graduation or through tech entry after 12th. Since you have not mentioned which entry you were referring to I am going to assume that you were talking about CDS. In CDS there is no reservation of seats based on caste hence the marks needed to be scored is the same for general and an sc student that is more or less around:
For OTA (WOMEN) the expected cut off is 92 For OTA (MEN) the expected cut off is 92 For Navy the expected cut off is 115 For Air Force the expected cut off is 100 For Army the expected cut off is 115

Hello dear student, so as you have asked for the difference between IMA which is Indian military academy and OTA which is officers training academy. There is a huge difference between these two as Indian military academy says the Moto which is valour and wisdom while the OTA which is officers training academy motto is serve with honour.
Now in Indian military academy cadets go through a rigorous training approximately for 1 year and after successfully completing the training gc gets into the army as a permanent commissioned officer.
Why now in officers training academy it is well equipped to train officers for counter insurgency operations giving a real jungle lane shooting range and grenade lobbing area.
I hope this helps
Thank you

Hi N Rahim Kumar,
IMA trains officers for a long 20 year assignment with Indian army. OTA trains men and women officers for short service commission. Also its kind of option to the people who didn't studied mathematics as their main subject during school days to get into defence forces.
if you want to spend twenty years as an officer, opt for IMA. Its in Dehradun. But if you want to experience a short term with army and then decide whether you want to extend subsequently, OTA will be your option.
