My IIST OBC NCL rank is 380 can I expect admission in ECE avionics or Aerospace engineering in IIST

Anuj Kumar 30th Oct, 2021

Hi,

Hope you are doing well.

IIST offers admissions to its programs based on 2 method. One is through JEE Advanced and other through seperately preparing IIST Rank . Following are the cutoff based on IIST rank in 2020.

Branch name -  Opening Rank -  Closing Rank

4-Year B.E./B.Tech. Course

  • Aerospace Engineering: 152-  473
  • Electronics and Commnuncation Engineering with specialisation in Avionics: 206 - 511

5-Year B.Tech + M.Tech. (Dual Degree) Course

  • Engineering Physics with M.Tech/MS in any of the listed specializations: 271 - 521

From above, it seems you have good Chances of getting admission into your desired branch. However the cutoff changes every year so if cutoff remains similar then you could get your branch of choice.

I hope this will answer your query.

I have minuseye power is hurdle for study Aerospace Engineering or Avionics in IIST

Subhrajit Mukherjee 27th Oct, 2021

There are no such health requirement for student regarding the admission to the IIST course. Now professionally being an Aerospace Engineer or Avionics you have nothing to worry about the minus eye power. Having a negative eye power is quite common and it don't create any problem in your professional career until and unless you go for the army and other cases if there are requirements of eye health. In general there are no such regarding the engineers and if there exist then it would be for High power candidates having very low eye sight for 6.6,6/9 vision there are no problems in most of the case.

Hello student

There is no good or bad things in BTech of IIST that Indian institute of science and technology. It depends upon the candidates of students performance in the course of study . Vijay ki ECE has also vast scope in future job prospect because the course of study of ECE is a vast process which teaches and learns a candidate a wide range of electronics and communication engineering which has the great scope of practical implication in electronics and communication world.

On the other hand BTech in aerospace is also a good course which head  enlearns a student to built himself or herself  create skill for using in the sphere of future job prospect.

So you have to choice one of the courses from these two  in which you will feel easy to go ahead with the course of study and fulfilling your aim.

which branch is preferable for IIST aerospace or ECE avionics

darshita 21st Oct, 2021

Hello,

If you have passion for aeronautics and fascination for space then IIST is the right place for you. IIST is one of the reputed college in all over India, it became so much popular within short period as compare to other college due to their Lab, placement, education and other facilities.

IIST has only two branch:

  • B. Tech in Aerospace Engineering
  • B. Tech in Electronics and communication Engiennering(Avionics)
  • 5 year Dual Degree (B. Tech + Master of science/Master of Technology).

We are talking about IIST here every branch is superb. But to choose between these two you have see where you want to work in. If you interested to work in ISRO then pick Aerospace Engineering, Electronics and communication Engineering. , If you are planning to take admission here and you want to work in ISRO then you don’t need to worry about too Much.

Next thing if you don't want to work for ISRO then you can choose the next option then avionics. In India job opportunity for Aerospace is less than Electronics and Communication Engineering.

Hope this helps!!

Can I get admission in IIST Thiruvananthapuram if my OBC rank is 4347 in JEE Advance 2021?

Sharon Rose Student Expert 15th Oct, 2021

Hello,

It is quite difficult to predict the chances of getting seat in IIST, Thiruvananthapuram based on JEE Advanced rank. Last year the cut off rank (IIST UG ADMISSION-RANK) is as follows for OBC category

  • Aerospace Engineering: 473
  • Electronics and Communication  : 511
  • B.Tech. + Master of Science/Master of Technology: 521

And here is the Closing Percentage of JEE Advanced 2020 marks.

  • Aerospace Engineering: 21.72 %
  • Electronics and Communication  : 21.46%
  • B.Tech. + Master of Science/Master of Technology: 21.21%

Each year the maximum marks for JEE Advanced changes so does the cut off. You will have decent chances of getting seat if your total score in JEE Advanced is in between 21-25% of total score.

Cut off is subjected to change, it may increase or decrease depending on factors such as total number of candidates appeared, difficulty level of examination and total number of seats available etc. So it may increase or decrease this year based on above mentioned factors.

To check the previous year cut off use the link given below

https://www.iist.ac.in/admissions/undergraduate

To know the colleges in which you have chances of getting seat you may use our JEE Advanced college predictor tool
