which branch is preferable for IIST aerospace or ECE avionics

darshita 21st Oct, 2021

Hello,

If you have passion for aeronautics and fascination for space then IIST is the right place for you. IIST is one of the reputed college in all over India, it became so much popular within short period as compare to other college due to their Lab, placement, education and other facilities.

IIST has only two branch:

  • B. Tech in Aerospace Engineering
  • B. Tech in Electronics and communication Engiennering(Avionics)
  • 5 year Dual Degree (B. Tech + Master of science/Master of Technology).

We are talking about IIST here every branch is superb. But to choose between these two you have see where you want to work in. If you interested to work in ISRO then pick Aerospace Engineering, Electronics and communication Engineering. , If you are planning to take admission here and you want to work in ISRO then you don’t need to worry about too Much.

Next thing if you don't want to work for ISRO then you can choose the next option then avionics. In India job opportunity for Aerospace is less than Electronics and Communication Engineering.

Hope this helps!!

Can I get admission in IIST Thiruvananthapuram if my OBC rank is 4347 in JEE Advance 2021?

Sharon Rose Student Expert 15th Oct, 2021

Hello,

It is quite difficult to predict the chances of getting seat in IIST, Thiruvananthapuram based on JEE Advanced rank. Last year the cut off rank (IIST UG ADMISSION-RANK) is as follows for OBC category

  • Aerospace Engineering: 473
  • Electronics and Communication  : 511
  • B.Tech. + Master of Science/Master of Technology: 521

And here is the Closing Percentage of JEE Advanced 2020 marks.

  • Aerospace Engineering: 21.72 %
  • Electronics and Communication  : 21.46%
  • B.Tech. + Master of Science/Master of Technology: 21.21%

Each year the maximum marks for JEE Advanced changes so does the cut off. You will have decent chances of getting seat if your total score in JEE Advanced is in between 21-25% of total score.

Cut off is subjected to change, it may increase or decrease depending on factors such as total number of candidates appeared, difficulty level of examination and total number of seats available etc. So it may increase or decrease this year based on above mentioned factors.

To check the previous year cut off use the link given below

In jee Advance 2021 I got 105 marks what will be my predicted OBC and general rank. Can I get IIST for aerospace enginerring or any IIT for aerospace enginerring. PLEASE HELP

Ayush Roy 14th Oct, 2021

Hello Aman. You mentioned you have scored 105 in JEE Advanced 2021 and that you belong to OBC-NCL category. Based on your marks, your Overall Rank may end up somewhere around 17001 and 18000 while your Category Rank may end up around 4,256 although it is hard to be predicted exactly as it depends on number of candidates appeared who belong to the same category as yours, difficulty of the paper, cutoff marks etc.

Based on your performance in JEE Advanced 2021, you may get admission to Aerospace Engineering at IIST, Thiruvananthapuram as your percentage appears to be 28.68.

in 2019, JEE Advanced Cutoff Percentage for admission to Aerospace Engineering at IIST, Thiruvananthapuram for OBC-NCL candidates was 29.30.

I was an 2021 jee aspirant , I just checked my jee Adv score and I definitely not getting into IIST , through my mains score I m getting middle ranked NITs. My aim is to join ISRO, should I take a drop for IIST or just give ICRB after Btech ? and is ICRB difficult than advance?

Rohith Miryala 11th Oct, 2021

Hello Gunjan,

Hope you are great.

As you said like getting into ISRO is your dream and you have not cracked it this time. Entering into ISRO through ICRB is much difficult compared to IIST. If you have the confidence that you can make it with a try in JEE 2022 then I suggest you to take a long term and prepare for it.

If you are feeling like you can crack it after completing your B.tech then take an admission and join the college. Confidence is the main asset. Let me give a clear process of Entering into ISRO by ICRB and IIST :

Going through IIST :

  • If you clear the JEE Advanced cut-off of IIST and get an admission.
  • Complete your B.tech course with CGPA more than 7.5
  • They will directly recruit you without any other interviews.

Through ICRB :

  • Fill an application form.
  • Appear for ICRB written test in their allocated centers.
  • When you clear the exam, you will get a call for interview.
  • You can check the shortlisted candidates, whether you have cleared it or not.
  • If yes, Your job at ISRO is confirmed.

Hope this answers clears your doubt..

piyush263001 8th Oct, 2021

Hello,

It is commendable that you have a big aim and you wish to ace it. Preparation leads the road to success and it requires certain strategy.

An entrance exam Of JEE Mains and JEE Advance level tests your understanding of complex concepts. So first and foremost thing is you should have a very clear understanding of concepts of a vast syllabus for Engineering entrance examination.

You can develop this only by referring to books other than you state board course , hence you should refer other books that would help in building concepts.

For detailed explanation of strategy and method of preparation for JEE exam you can follow the following link -

Thank you.

What is the cutoff in JEE ADVANCED 2021 in order to get admission in IIST(Indian Institute of Science and Technology)?

Hi
All the IIT aspirants have to sit for JEE Main and afterward, JEE Advanced. Only the top 2, 24,000 scores in JEE Main will become eligible to sit for JEE advanced. The candidates must have secured at least 75% marks or be in the top 20 percentile in the 12th Class Examination conducted by respective boards.
To get seat in this college you should get atleast below 5000 Rank in JEE Mains. To get admission through JEE Advanced you should get atleast above 35 percentile.
