Aerospace Engineering campassing in India (in terms of packages) from Old IITs & IIST? What to do if ISRO does not recruit me (Studying in IIST & CGPA below 7.5)? What companies will offer higher packages other than ISRO in IIST & Old IITs (Aerospace Engineering)? Plz, answer all the questions!

Abinash Panigrahi 3rd Dec, 2019

Hello dear,

If you're a part of aerospace engineering and are unable to get into ISRO then there are many of other sectors that can provide job opportunities.

Candidates from IIST have a better chance at getting into ISRO while IIT students attract other sectors more comparatively.

For an aerospace engineer ; First of all you can always go into research field and do higher studies ; create job opportunities by yourself.

There are other major organizations that recruit aerospace engineers are

Government organizations like DRDO, HAL, Bharat dynamic limited and many such companies at pay scale 7-8 lacs per annum in the beginning.

In private sectors also companies like Boeing, Airbus, GM, Pratt and Whitney, rolls Royce and some automobile industries also hire candidates. Package will vary from 6-12 lakh if you're a candidate from IIT or IIST .

NAVEEN MEENA Student Expert 24th Nov, 2019
Dear aspirant, IIST did not organize any entrance test to offer admission in UG, PG and other courses. Students will get admission on the basis of JEE Advanced, GATE, JEST or UGC NET examinations.
A merit list is released by IIST for both UG and PG courses.
The merit list is prepared as per the marks scored in the JEE advanced 2019 exam for UG courses. It will be prepared only for those candidates who have registered online and satisfy the eligibility criteria. Candidates have to report to the counselling centre to appear in the counselling process.
For PG courses, the candidates have to register online for admission. Students will be selected for admission rounds on the basis of marks scored in GATE, JEST or UGC NET examination. After that, students have to qualify the interview or any other admission round organized by IIST.

steps to enter into iist college kerala

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 6th Nov, 2019
There are various levels at which you can join ISRO and at various designations.
After 12th: You can get into IIST (Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology) for their Undergraduate programmes. The admission is based on JEE Advanced scores. Which means you need to have studied Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in 10+2. You can pick any of their 4 year Bachelor programmes like B.Tech in Physical Sciences, B.Tech in Avionics and B.Tech in Aerospace Engineering, etc. Or you can also pick up their 5 year Integrated courses in Master of Science in Astronomy and AstroPhysics, Master of Technology in Earth System Science, Master of Science in Solid State Physics and Master of Science in Optical Engineering, etc.

Opportunities are amazing for academically brilliant candidates. With a CGPA of 7.5 or higher, subject to the availability of vacancies, you get placed in ISRO. Aero and Avio graduates have better prospects even outside ISRO.

After B.Tech: IIST also offers Postgraduate Programmes like:
M.Tech in Soft Computing & Machine Learning
M.Tech in RF & Microwave Engineering
M.Tech in Geo informatics
M.Tech in Optical Engineering
M.Tech in Machine Learning & Computing
M.Tech in Solid State Technology
M.Tech in VLSI & Microsystems
M.Tech in Materials Science & Technology, etc.

Opportunities depend upon ISRO Placements conducted by centralised recruitment committee.
