IIST B.Tech admission 2019 was on the basis of JEE Advanced 2019 exam. So class 12th marks doesn't play a big role , you just need to get at least  75 % in class 12th to be eligible .

It is not necessary for you to study only in IIST to get into ISRO. You can get a job at ISRO with a degree feom other colleges too. If you are passionate and talented enough to get into IIST then you can get into ISRO through campus placements.

Yes there is only one IIST i.e. Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology in India. It is situated in Kerala. It was established in 2007.

You can find this to be more efficient or good than IIT. Any other institute does not stand in comparison to it
