There is no official details regarding the rank you must have to get into IIST. IIST also demands good previous academic record along with graduation. The only think which is open is that you must have a score of 650+ in gate.

The exact cut off cannot be determined because, it increases or decreases every year based on the various factors. But approximate prediction can be done based on the previous years cut offs. The safest rank for ST category students to get an admission in IIST Thiruvananthapuram is below 1000. If you manage to get this rank you can make it into the college. Hi ! No, you can't get an admission to there. IIST is a very good and top notch institute for b.tech students. To get there you need to have a rank between 4000-6000 in general category. So, getting there is bit tough. So hope you understand and best of luck to you.

a) Both of these are excellent colleges but you should go for the subject that interests you more.
