There are more than one exam from which students take admission in IIST. For JEE adv you have to secure very good rank i mean to say top 100-200 rank should be secured so that you will have chances.

No, it isn't possible anymore
As per my knowledge the council has taken decision to take admissions in IIST only through JEE ADVANCED from 2017
So prepare well for JEE ADVANCED and crack it

For getting admission in IIST , it is not your JEE MAINS marks which are considered . Instead , admissions are made on the basis of marks in JEE ADVANCE . So , by knowing your marks in JEE MAINS , i can not tell you whether you will get
