Your chances of getting IIT Guwahati with a SC rank of 2262 is quite difficult. However, you might upgrade to better IITs in round 2 than Gandhinagar.

In this day and age and with the pace world is changing with technology, one branch that will be of immense relevance in the future is Computer Science and Engineering. In 2019, when the young IITs which are now 11 years old shouldn't be skipped just because you may want to have some other branch at the older IITs.
Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at IIT Gandhinagar is a wonderful course that provides the best of the faculty with the latest curriculum. The fact that IIT Gandhinagar took 8 years to start its computer science course which many institutes start from its inception is the fact that it did extreme due diligence in faculty recruitment and crafting programs to train the students in the best possible way.
Additionally, it is the placements that are at the top of the mind for a lot of students as well as their placements. When it comes to campus jobs, undoubtedly CSE is the champ among all branches of engineering. The who's and who of the world such as Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc. all hire for software roles. Top companies within India such as the Paytm, Flipkart also pull students for the software roles preferring CSE engineers. Not just that, these companies pay more than 20 lacs per annum at least in India, to about multiple lacs of dollars for abroad locations (these are the crore-plus packages that you read about in the newspapers). IIT Gandhinagar has had students who have bagged offers in Google, Nutanix to name just a few and these are some of the highest paying companies across all the IITs. Well, if you have a branch that is so future ready and an IIT that offers the best of it, the choice should be very clear.
Hi aspirant,
According to NIRF rankings, ISM Dhanbad is a better option compared to the others. Followed by IIT Gandhinagar, IIT Bhubaneshwar and IIt Ropar. If you have a rank to get CSE in ISM Dhanbad, then you do have a good chance to get other branches in other top IITs like Kharagpur, Kanpur etc. All the best
Hello Hanish!
Branch selection totally depends on your interest . Although it is clear that IIT Kanpur is old IIT and IIT Ropar is new IIT so IIT Kanpur has better facilities and opportunities than IIT Ropar. If you are interested in computer science (coding related things and mathematics) then you should go with Cse and if you want to make career in the field of government jobs then you should go with mechanical engineering in IIT Kanpur.
Hope it answer your concerns.
Hello Aaditya,
Maths and Computing is a very interesting and upcoming course which is a sweet mixture of coding, DSA and Linear algebra. IIT Hyderabad is the only good second generation IIT which has somewhat grown equal to the likes of IIT Roorkee, BITS Pilani. So I would definitely suggest you to go for the former option.
Best of luck.
Well, brother since SC category students have huge number of seats left vacant because many of the category students fail to qulaify such low marks cut-off.
So from analysis of past year trends, expected marks to get IIT would be anything 20 marks above the qaulifying marks would be safe to getting into.
All the Best.
