Assuming that you are a general category student, it will be very tough, almost impossible for you to get admission in any IIT, old or new. As for NITs, even there the chances are very low butyou might be able to get some branch in NITs like Srinagar,

For an IIT U must have to clear her advance ,but for a good nit in obc category U should score around 150 to get into it.hope this help.

You may not get core branches in IITs but in NITs definately you will get.But still if you want to pursue M.Tech at IIT you may choose interdisciplinary branches which are under core branch department.

Sorry to say but IITs do not offer lateral entry admissions in 2nd year of B.Tech programpro students who have completed their first year from some other college. Even the NITs do not offer lateral entry. Aming the IIITs, only IIIT Hyderabad offers lateral entry in second year
