Yes it is necessary to appear for the CBSE improvement exams in all 5 subjects inorder to qualify for JEE Main 2018. ... If you give improvement then you should have to give test of all five subjects it is compulsory..

Advanced has not been scraped,for admission in IITs & ISM Dhanbad, students have to qualify both examinations, i.e. JEE Main and JEE Advanced. It will be conducted twice in a year by NTA.

If you want to crack the IIT then you should 1st focus on basics then implement in it and solve too may questions.
You should focus on periodic table, chemical bonding , p block , f block , basic organic , stiochiometry Atomic str etc
You know better.
Definitely class 12th syllabus has more weightage!But you need to look out well for the following topics from class 11th.
