Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad
Hello! We suggest you look at your interests in both fields bfore choosing between them. Do keep in mind that both fields you have mentioned have very prominent purposes and jobs in the world but it will be of no use if you don't have an interest in them. Check Careers360 articles for more knowledge on the two, and choose one on basis of your interests.
Good luck!
Hello aspirant
Congratulations on qualifying JEE!!
Coming to your question, if you are getting the same branch in both the colleges, then according to me you should go with IIT Hyderabad. Although both the colleges have been given the same rating (AAAA+) by Careers360, IIT Hyderabad has an edge over NIT Warangal. Looking at the highest and the average packages, it is high for Hyderabad. The fees for IIT Hyderabad is lower than the other option. NIT Warangal was established way before than IIT Hyderabad, thus it is highly probable that you will get more oppurtunities in IIT, because the batch size will be low( 40 seats in IIT whereas 94 in NIT for mechanical), and in the entire college as well the strength is low, so you will get more chances to showcase your talent, be it in academic or co-curricular field. And, being the developing colleges, more options will come for you in near future. Also, take under consideration the proximity(if you wish to do so).
I hope this helps you. Decide accordingly considering all your preferences.
All the best!!
Hello Anil
Anything more than 45% of total score is sufficient to get a good branch (maybe CSE) in an old IIT for an SC candidate.
I have seen SC people with AIR ~4000 getting CSE in IIT Bombay. So, i think you can get IIT Hyderabad but i doubt, CSE.
IIT Madras has recently upgraded its position in the top engineering colleges of India and is currently way better than IIT Hyderabad in terms of infrastructure, faculty, quality of learning and placements. But, since you want to compare two different courses, you might have to look into your personal reasons for doing the course. Mechanical Engineering is the branch that uses the physics of motion and kinetics to develop machines and maintain mechanical systems. While electrical engineering applies the physics of electrostatics, electrodynamics, and magnetism to generate and transmit energy. So, you have to decide which course appeals more to you. Because, in the end, your course will definitely matter more than your college. However, if you feel you can do both these subjects, then I suggest going for IIT Madras for the sake of its reputation.
Dear candidate.....,
First of all congratulations for performing very well in GATE examination. Yes there are chances of getting IIT Hyderabad in the upcoming rounds of counselling as per the rank list of previous year. So you may wait for the upcoming counseling rounds to get your desired college.
Hope this helps you out......
Best of luck:)
Hi,
Courses.
Almost all the CS courses are taught in MnC department but there’s a difference. Mnc courses are more inclined towards Mathematics and not much coding. It is you who will have to code. The professors in MnC department won’t pay much heed.
CS department will give you lots of program to code. Coding will become your cup of coffee.
Interests.
Mathematics is all different after coming to IIT. Rather than solving skills you will need more of mugging up. I have seen many of my friends lose their interest in Mathematics after joining. I’m not trying to intimidate you but Mathematics here is indeed different from that of your school days.
If you are interested in both subjects, more in CS, go for the CS department. You can always take additional courses in MnC department to satiate your desire for Maths.
Hello Aaditya,
Maths and Computing is a very interesting and upcoming course which is a sweet mixture of coding, DSA and Linear algebra. IIT Hyderabad is the only good second generation IIT which has somewhat grown equal to the likes of IIT Roorkee, BITS Pilani. So I would definitely suggest you to go for the former option.
Best of luck.
You are very correct that IIT Bhu has a strong alumni network aincs it is very old.
On the contrary IIT Hyderabad is relatively new , but the placement have been very good in the previous year as compared to IIT Bhu. IIT Hyderabad being new has new and updated infrastructure and hostel facility but IIT Bhu has old infrastructure which are renovated. IIT Hyderabad is rising through ranks in the years and it will attain new heights in the years to come.
So if you consider my opinion then you should definitely go to iit Hyderabad.
Hello Goutham,
Sorry to say Goutham but you will not get CSE branch in IIT Hyderabad in SC Category because the cutoff of SC category from previous years had between 80-250.It may vary depending upon the diffculty and performance of this year. You may get seat in chemical or civill branch from the estimation of previous years cutoff. For more details about the cutoff do check the link below.I hope it helped.
