Which is better? AEROSPACE IN IIT BOMBAY, ELECTRICAL IN IIT ROORKEE OR CSE IN IIT GANDHINAGAR

Yash Pratap Singh 20th Jun, 2019

In this day and age and with the pace world is changing with technology, one branch that will be of immense relevance in the future is Computer Science and Engineering. In 2019, when the young IITs which are now 11 years old shouldn't be skipped just because you may want to have some other branch at the older IITs.

Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at IIT Gandhinagar is a wonderful course that provides the best of the faculty with the latest curriculum. The fact that IIT Gandhinagar took 8 years to start its computer science course which many institutes start from its inception is the fact that it did extreme due diligence in faculty recruitment and crafting programs to train the students in the best possible way.

Additionally, it is the placements that are at the top of the mind for a lot of students as well as their placements. When it comes to campus jobs, undoubtedly CSE is the champ among all branches of engineering. The who's and who of the world such as Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc. all hire for software roles. Top companies within India such as the Paytm, Flipkart also pull students for the software roles preferring CSE engineers. Not just that, these companies pay more than 20 lacs per annum at least in India, to about multiple lacs of dollars for abroad locations (these are the crore-plus packages that you read about in the newspapers). IIT Gandhinagar has had students who have bagged offers in Google, Nutanix to name just a few and these are some of the highest paying companies across all the IITs. Well, if you have a branch that is so future ready and an IIT that offers the best of it, the choice should be very clear.

IIT BHU Electronics vs IIT Roorkee Mechanical vs IIT Guwahati EEE what should be my prefernce pls reply? if I have no specific interest

adyasamohanty611_9299468 Student Expert 20th Jun, 2019

Hi Aspirant

All these options are great options.

Since you have no specific interest in any particular branch it comes down to picking up the right college.

There are a few things that must be kept in mind while choosing the college:

a) Alumni Network - The older the college the better Alumni Network  youw have and that helps a lot. In that case IIT Roorkee will be the best option for you.

b) Location - You must keep in mind that location plays a very major role. In case you decide to go for higher studies you must see which city will give you better opportunities for coaching.

c) Ranking - Going by the NIRF Rankings, the order would be IIT Roorkee then IIT Guwahati then IIT BHU.

Hope this helps. All the Best.

Which would be a better choice between iit Roorkee CSE and iit Delhi electrical??

NACHIKET MOGHE 18th Jun, 2019

It all depends on the field of your interest. Now IIT Roorkee is one of the top 7 IITs, and and Delhi is in top 3. So when it comes to placement or coaching you won't face any problems. But you should definitely choose the field which you like, and in which you want to establish your career. You should consider if you are interested in coding/electrical systems etc, and choose accordingly. Don't choose any just because it's in general demand. All the best

My advance rank is 11211.Can I get civil engineering in IIT Roorkee under supernumerary girls seats

adyasamohanty611_9299468 Student Expert 18th Jun, 2019

Hi Aspirant

Since you have not mentioned any category I will assume that you belong to the general category and will answer the question according to that.

According to last year cutoff ranks the cutoff for IIT Roorkee Civil Female seats only was 8108.

There are chances that it might change this year

There are other branches in other IITs that you can look for.

Hope this helps. All the best.

What i should choose Civil or chemical in iit bombay or iit delhi. or ECE in iit Roorkee.or CSe In new iits?

Kumari Ankita 18th Jun, 2019
Hello,
It completely depends upon your field of interest. If you are interested in coding and technical stuff, no option would be better than Computer science and engineering, both from interest and placement ppint of view as the I.T. companies mostly prefer CSE students above students from other branches. Civil engineering from IIT Bombay is very good option too in terms of opportunities. If you are interested in Chemical technologies, you should go for Chemical engineering, plus from IIT Delhi, it is a very good choice too. If you are interested in Core electrical related subjects, ECE is a good option too. If you are further interested in taking examinations like GATE, ECE would be a nice option. So all your options are here and you must choose according to your interest.
I wish you all the best.
In case of any further queries, ask me in the comments.

I have an AIR of 319 and reside in delhi. Should I opt for IIT Roorkee CS or IITD MNC(4/5 year) no particular inclination to coding.

DEBASISH PADHY 17th Jun, 2019
Hello !

Since you have no inclination towards coding and reside in Delhi I would suggest you to go for IITD MNC because of the following reasons :

1.Courses and course structure is really good here. You get to do a variety of cool and interesting courses. You will enjoy the course structure.
2. Department faculty is really good here . You will find some very cool professors in contrast to other branches.
3. The course curriculum is really tight in IITD. Being a MNC guy you cant expect to be holidaying. The course structure is very well planned and falling out of it will cause problems.
4. IITD also has some awesome professors in CS and electrical department along with some good courses . A MNC guy can also take up these courses if he/she is really interested in it.
5. In placements IITD performs really good. You can also apply for multiple profiles.

What to choose between iit roorkee biotechnology and nit rourkela computer science

rehan18alam Student Expert 17th Jun, 2019

Dear Jyoti,

The choice between branches depends upon your interest. However, in my opinion, the best choice is undoubtedly Computer Science from NIT Rourkela.

Following are the two main reasons for this:-

  • COMPUTER SCIENCE IS BEST BRANCH

Computer science is the best branch of engineering nowadays, placement wise. All the highest placements you may have heard about in various NITs and IITs are from the CS department. CSE is the most demanded branch and undoubtedly the best branch to chose for engineering. This is the reason the CSE has the highest cutoffs in every college it is being offered.

Moreover, CSE is not a hard branch. In fact, it is one of the easiest branches of engineering. This reason itself is enough to choose CSE.

  • NIT ROURKELA

NIT Rourkela is second on the list of top NITs list in 2019. The college matters a lot in professional courses. And NIT Rourkela is one of the best institutes available in the market. So this combination of the best branch is one of the best colleges is more than enough to choose NIT Rourkela over IIT Roorkee Biotechnology.

Hope this helps.

Thank You.
