I think you should go for IEM Kolkata instead of sliet with IT department.

The course and curriculum of CSE and IT departments donot vary much in WBUT and the placement scenario are also same. So, I don't think you will regret opting IT instead of CSE under WBUT curriculum. 

And IEM, Saltlake Kolkata is a renowed college and the placement here are quite good and the college is well-known throughout. The college is counted as one of the best private colleges under WBUT and one of the best college in Kolkata. 

So, my personal suggestion would be to choose IT from IEM instead of CSE from SLIET.

Both of the colleges are excellent for any branch aspirants among Kolkata engineering colleges. 

I would suggest you to choose IEM among the two if you are interested in engineering only for your education and placements. In that regard, IEM is ahead of Heritage. IEM is very strict and treats their students almost like school children with their strict timing. if you are even late by a minute you can bid the whole day goodbye. 

However, if you want a complete college experience including the fests, heritage will suit you better. They offer good placements too and arrange superb fests to give you a co-curricular opportunity as well.

IEM, Kolkata is a very good college and have a very good placements record. The cutoff for admission in this college goes high . So it is not easy to get admission into this institution. One needs to have a very good rank. Admission also depends on various factors such as category, home state quota, branch selection, etc. So according to previous years cutoff it will be difficult for you to get admission in this college or even if you got a seat then it will be with a lower branch only.

Heritage institute is a very good college and you have a very good rank and with this rank you will easily get admission in heritage college infact you can get a very good branch like CSE and IT very easily so you don't have to worry about it.Now coming to IEM, Kolkata you may face some difficulty in getting good branch you will get admission in it but may not get CSE or IT in it.

IEM Kolkata offers undergraduate courses in the field of Engineering which leads to award of the degree Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech). The duration period of the B.Tech program is four years. IEM kolkata also accepts a lateral entry in the B.Tech program for which the course duration is three years.

Hello candidate.Both the branches Computer Science Engineering (CSE) and Information Technology (IT) are good and are almost same.There is no big difference between CSE and IT.Both the branches deal with programming and is completely software side.And also there are many opportunities when you go with CSE or IT.
