OBC NCL female, Home state West bengal. percentile 78.53. is there any NIT or IIIT or GFIT colleges? other than civil engineering? maybe like ECE or EE or ME anything

Sujal Singh 30th Apr, 2025

With a JEE Main percentile of 78.53 in the OBC-NCL female category from West Bengal, securing admission to top NITs or IIITs for branches like Electrical Engineering (EE), Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), or Mechanical Engineering (ME) may be challenging. However, you might have opportunities in certain institutions with lower cutoffs.

For instance, NITs such as NIT Agartala, NIT Raipur, and NIT Jalandhar have previously had closing ranks for EE and ME branches within the range of 90,000 to 1,50,000, which could be within reach for your percentile. Similarly, IIITs like IIIT Bhagalpur and IIIT Kottayam have had closing ranks for ECE around 40,000 to 50,000. These figures suggest that with your current percentile, you might have a chance in these institutions, though it's advisable to verify the latest cutoffs during the JoSAA counseling process.

Additionally, considering Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs) could be beneficial, as they often have more accessible cutoffs. Institutions like NIT Durgapur in your home state of West Bengal might offer opportunities in branches like IT, EE, or ME. It's recommended to monitor the official JoSAA counseling portal for the most accurate and up-to-date information.

In summary, while top-tier NITs and IIITs may be competitive, exploring options in NITs with lower cutoffs and GFTIs could align better with your current percentile. Staying informed during the counseling process will be crucial in making the best decision.

Saurabh Yadav 29th Apr, 2025

Hii,

The Andhra Pradesh government provides complete fee reimbursement to OBC students with family incomes below 1 lakh per year. If you enroll in IIIT Sri City, the government will pay your entire tuition fee through the Jagananna Vidya Deevena scheme.

You can also obtain extra money for food and lodging through Jagananna Vasathi Deevena. Ensure that your paperwork are proper and submitted on time.

i got 78 percentile in jee mains. Can i get nit or iiit college? My category is EWS.

harsh singh 29th Apr, 2025

With a 78 percentile in JEE Mains and EWS category, your approximate CRL (Common Rank List) rank would be around 2.4 to 2.6 lakh, and your EWS rank could be around 30,000–35,000.

Admission Chances:

NITs:

Very low chance for core branches (CSE, ECE, etc.), even in lower NITs. Cutoffs for EWS category in NITs are usually under 15,000 EWS rank.

IIITs:

Slight chance in newer IIITs for non-core branches like Mechanical or Civil, but still difficult for CSE.

State Quota:

If you're from a state with home quota in an NIT, you may get better chances in spot rounds.

I had got 44000 rank in jee mains in OBC CATEGORY can I get a free seat in nit or iiit? please suggest me some colleges to get afree seat

kumardurgesh1802 28th Apr, 2025

Hello there,

With 44,000 OBC rank in JEE Mains, getting a free (zero tuition fee) seat in top NITs or IIITs is tough, especially for popular branches like CSE, ECE, or IT.

However, you may still get lower-demand branches like Civil, Mechanical, Metallurgy, or Production in newer NITs like NIT Mizoram, NIT Nagaland, NIT Sikkim, or NIT Puducherry. Some IIITs like IIIT Bhagalpur, IIIT Una, or IIIT Kottayam may also offer seats in lesser-demand branches.

Also, tuition fee waivers for OBC students depend on your family income (if it’s below Rs. 1 lakh per year, full waiver; between Rs. 1-5 lakh, 2/3rd waiver).

Apply through JoSAA counselling and fill maximum choices to increase your chances.

I hope this answer helps you. If you have more queries, feel free to share your questions with us, and we will be happy to assist you.

Thank you, and I wish you all the best in your bright future.

Is iiit banlore have architecture course

Saurabh Yadav 28th Apr, 2025

Hii,

IIIT Bangalore does not offer a Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) program. It specializes in IT and related fields, offering B.Tech programs like Computer Science, Electronics, and Data Science. If you're looking for architecture courses in Bangalore, institutions like RV College of Architecture, BMS College of Architecture, and MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology offer B.Arch programs. Admissions typically require NATA or JEE Main Paper 2 scores

Hi myself Adhya S Shine clear for JEE Advance my CRL score 304880 and OBC-NCL score are 107412. Kindly suggest NIT, IIIT and other good college as per my score. Want to pursue Btech I CS related subject. Kindly guide

Mayumi DAS 27th Apr, 2025

Hi Adhya! Congratulations on clearing JEE Advanced !

Based on your JEE Advanced scores:

  • CRL Rank : 304880

  • OBC-NCL Rank : 107412

Admission Possibilities in NITs and IIITs :

With your OBC-NCL rank of 107412 , here’s what you can expect:

  • Top NITs (like NIT Trichy, Warangal, Surathkal, etc.) and IIITs (like IIIT Hyderabad) will likely be out of reach for branches like CSE , as they typically require a much lower rank.

  • However, for lower-ranked NITs and IIITs , you may have a chance for branches like:

Information Technology (IT)

Software Engineering

Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE)

Some NITs that might still offer you a seat in IT or related branches are:

  • NIT Durgapur

  • NIT Goa

  • NIT Sikkim

  • NIT Mizoram

  • NIT Nagaland

  • NIT Puducherry

IIITs :

For IIITs , the competition is high for CSE , but you may still have a chance in newer IIITs like:

  • IIIT Kota

  • IIIT Bhagalpur

  • IIIT Nagpur

  • IIIT Kalyani

Other Good Options:

If you are interested in CSE or related branches , here are a few private universities that offer strong computer science programs:

  • VIT Vellore

  • SRM Institute of Science and Technology

  • Shiv Nadar University

  • Amrita University

  • Manipal University

These institutions offer CSE , Software Engineering , and related branches and have a high reputation, with good campus placements.

Summary:

  • Top NITs and IIITs : Unlikely for CSE with your rank, but branches like IT, Software Engineering, and ECE may be possible in lower-ranked institutions.

  • Private Universities : You have a strong chance in institutions like VIT , SRM , Shiv Nadar , and Amrita .
