i am b sc physics 3 year discontinued. may abii defence ne kamkarra... may how to join isro??

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 6th Aug, 2020

There are various levels at which you can join ISRO and at various designations.

After 12th: You can get into IIST (Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology) for their Undergraduate programmes. The admission is based on JEE Advanced scores. Which means you need to have studied Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in 10+2. You can pick any of their 4 year Bachelor programmes like B.Tech in Physical Sciences, B.Tech in Avionics and B.Tech in Aerospace Engineering, etc. Or you can also pick up their 5 year Integrated courses in Master of Science in Astronomy and AstroPhysics, Master of Technology in Earth System Science, Master of Science in Solid State Physics and Master of Science in Optical Engineering, etc.

Opportunities are amazing for academically brilliant candidates. With a CGPA of 7.5 or higher, subject to the availability of vacancies, you get placed in ISRO. Aero and Avio graduates have better prospects even outside ISRO.

After B.Tech: IIST also offers Postgraduate Programmes like:

M.Tech in Soft Computing & Machine Learning
M.Tech in RF & Microwave Engineering
M.Tech in Geo informatics
M.Tech in Optical Engineering
M.Tech in Machine Learning & Computing
M.Tech in Solid State Technology
M.Tech in VLSI & Microsystems
M.Tech in Materials Science & Technology, etc.

Opportunities depend upon ISRO Placements conducted by centralised recruitment committee.

But if you have discontinued your B.Sc, your highest educational qualification will still remain 12th. And so if you have to complete your B.Sc atleast to join ISRO as their Technical Assistant.

after Bsc in Physics can l got chance in isro?

Ananya Bhowmick 26th Jul, 2020

Hey aspirant,

Its good to hear that you want to join ISRO aster Bsc. Yes of course, a graduate in physics can get chance to serve Isro by clearing scientific assistant exam but he has to secure at least 60 % marks in his degree.  But they hire bsc only fewer in number. It is advised that you try after MSc.

For joining as ISRO Scientist -SC (entry level). basic education qualification is Msc or Btech. Msc can be in Physics, chemistry or mathematics. After Bsc physics you can join as Technical Assistant, ISRO allow you option of part-time/correspondence study, after completing Msc you can get promoted to Scientist-SC.

ISRO advertises it's jobs vacancies on its official website for scienctist and many other posts, so follow their link to stay updated. You have to also appear for ISRO exam and syllabus will be available on their site.
