The preparatory rank you got is for preparatory courses in IIT. It has nothing to do with NIT. IITs conduct preparatory courses every year. It is a year long course, on PCM and English. Afyter that, you can join IIT, for the course you got selected, after an exam.

According to the last year cutoff trends, you can get CSE with the help of jee-mains in NIts but in terms of jee-advance, you can't get.so choose wisely.
