Prakhar Vashishtha 14th Jul, 2019

Hello aspirant. If you were a general candidate it would have been a no for you. But since you belong to OBC category, I can say you have quite good chances for getting a seat in Kolkata campus as per trends. If the trends don't cheat you are good to go and have your seat.

Is marine engineering is better option for career in future then to do engineering in private college

Kishan_283 Student Expert 30th May, 2019
Hello...

Both are two different fields so you can not compare . There are many private colleges like BITS,VIT etc and they are giving strong competition to even top NIT'S and low rank IIT'S. But if you are not getting these private college then surely marine engineering is best choice. If you are interested in clicking selfie with dolphin marine engineering is waiting for you.

FUTURE CAREER IN MARINE ENGINEERING:-

The career opportunities are immense in private, educational, corporate and governmental sectors. You can work either onshore or offshore. The latter is quite demanding as you have to stay away from the land for months on end. However, if a government job is what you want, Marine engineering can land you up in the Naval services. Apart from the lucrative salary and perks, it is a matter of pride and joy to serve the country in the waters. Aspirants can also get opportunities in marine metals and corrosion, renewable energy, remote sensing, offshore oil recovery, underwater vehicles and marine transportation. Starting off as a Fifth (junior) engineer, the promotions depends on the efficiency shown.

Placement in b.tech in marine engineering

Anurag pal Student Expert 29th May, 2019

btech marine engineering is a 4 year course conducted by all maritime universities all over the world. Now , when we talk about placements , it depends upon the individual's calibre even if he is in a normal college he can do good ahead.During placements different shipping companies come and take the deserving candidates according to the panel . placement record is also a key factor for all aspirants one should be well known by the college's placement record .

Colleges like Tolani maritime  institute , samudra institute , Great eastern etc have very good placement records as the colleges have their own companies so it becomes easy for them to place their candidates in respective companies so it would be benefitial to  take graduation from ownership companiey colleges rather than management company colleges.
