Yes you can give one subject privately in National Institute of Open School (NIOS) , which allows students to appear for upto four subjects in "ondemand" examination. You can also give only one subject in senior secondary examination

Dear aspirant,

Yes, ideally Maths is compulsory subject in any branch of Engineering, including Biotechnology. In other Institutions or Universities, that admit students from Biology background as well on Board Exam merit, there certain basic mathematics course are usually practised.
