Basically, branch sliding is done so if a sufficient number of seats are available you should get the required seat.
They will notify you for the second round.
You will get a 100% refund if you do not get a seat in the NSR round. The money will be transferred into the bank account whose details you have provided during registration.
Please note that you will not get any refund if you are allotted a seat and do not wish to join it.

Hello Mayakuntala! Let me inform you that GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) is an exam which students can give after B. Tech to get jobs in PSUs and admission in different IITS and nits or different colleges for Mtech with stipend. The most important thing you should know is the total marks in gate exam is 100 marks. So there is no point you can get 407 marks be it whichever branch. Tell us your exact score so that we can help you out.

According to the current trends below 4000 rank can be considered as safe for the m-tech admissions.
Although cut-off changes everywhere but it is almost near to the above mentioned rank.

Well the term good is subjective as to how good depends on person to person,also before coming to the statistics for mtech mechanical for svnit i would like to mention that placement completely dependent on indivisual,if you are skilled talented and have worked hard you will definitely land somewhere good and if you are not even being from iit wont help.
Now coming to NIT surat for mec mtech its average to decent,last year from a total of 17 students 17 were eligible for placements and 10 were placed , average package for the batch was 4.25 lacs per annum and highest was 6 lacs.

The average CTC(Cost to Company) lies around 3.5 lakhs per annum(for M.Tech Automotive Engineering). The highest package being Rs. 10.8 lakhs per annum. VIT Vellore also provides internship opportunities with a stipend of Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 45,000.
The industries that are offering Placements at VIT Vellore for M.Tech have stipulated a minimum of 60% Marks for candidates in their undergraduate courses and in class X and XII. Hi ! It's very tough to get there. It is so because your marks is very low. Your marks is not enough to get into HCU for m.tech. Being a good college it demands a good rank and marks. So with your rank it's a tough tasks. Still just wait upto last round and can have a low standard stream.
