mechanical engineering or aerospace engineering, which is better for isro

VETRIRANJANI G 4th Aug, 2021

Dear Aspirant,

Mechanical Engineering is the best option to choose to get into ISRO. It comprises all the field of design, manufacturing, & Engine structures. Electrical engineering is also good field to choose to get into ISRO
In mechanical engineering, you have much more job opportunities but since it is one of the widely selected field, there is a really high competition. Mechanical engineering has one more advantage, there are more institutes providing mechanical engineering degree than aerospace engineering .

Aerospace engineers and mechanical engineers both work on the development and construction of equipment and devices. The major difference between these two are that the former is relatively narrow field  focusing on airplanes and other aerospace related machines. by contrast mechanical engineering is a broad field that encompasses work in a wide variety of industries and serving a multitude of purposes. Aerospace engineers tackles aerodynamics and flight mechanics in a way that mechanical engineer typically do not. Now coming to the career options after completing B Tech in mechanical engineering and aerospace engineering. Well aerospace engineers are highly paid professions in the engineering job market. However in recent years the availability of aerospace engineers increased drastically. Key areas of employment after completing aerospace engineering are are in space research centres like NASA and ISRO, aeronautical development establishment, aeronautical laboratories, aircraft manufacturing companies, defence research and development organisation, defence services, department of Civil aviation etc. in case of mechanical Engineering jobs directly related to your degree include automobile engineering contracting civil engineering control and instrumentation Engineering etc.

But nowadays demand of Mechanical Engineering in market has drastically decreased and the median salary it is also not up to the mark. Now the choice is yours if you you can pursue mechanical engineering from an well-established institute is obviously a good choice.
Hope you have understood.

I am a 7th semester B.tech Mechanical Engineering student. Due to the pandemic I have not been able to do any internship. Are there some online internships i can do?

Subhrajit Mukherjee 3rd Aug, 2021

See as you are mechanical engineer, it can be tough for you to get internship online for your field i.e., Mechanical Engineering. But you can take other internships such as Content writing, Subject Matter Expert, Coding (Python, C++ etc), if you know web development then also you have good options available etc. Thus you can do internship but for a ME related internship you have to find hard as ME is a field where on sight internships are more available. You can search Internshala and such platforms for Internships and I am sure you will get any as per your interest.

I hope this answer helps. All the very best for your future endeavors!

I got 122/240 in the manipal enterance test I want to get into mechanical or mechatronics what are my chances?

Akshita Dhiman 23rd Jun, 2021
Hi there,

It is highly unpredictable to exact a rank as of now. Various factors decide the rankings for different branches every year. However, If an approximation is to be made then your rank lies above 10k.

With this, rank there is a slim chance of getting Mechanical or Mechatronics in the Manipal main campus as last year's cut-off was
Mechanical Engineering:9889
Mechatronics:9840

There are however other branches as per your rank that you are eligible for like EIE, Aeronautical Engineering, Biotechnology. (main campus)

Please note these are just an approximation, the exact rank may vary, as per the difficulty level of the exam this year, the total number of candidates who appeared for the exam, total seats available, and more.

Rest assured, you have a good score, so hope for the best!

To access previous year cut off rankings please access the below link:

I hope this information helps!

For any further queries, please revert.

Thank you and good luck!

mechanical engineering vs computer science engineering

siddharthabiswas609 1st Aug, 2021
Hello Aspirant,
Well  it completely depends on you, which stream interests you the most.
In Mechanical engineering:  Candidates who choose mechanical engineers  means designing, developing, and testing physical tools and machinery, whether they are used in factories and power plants or hospitals. Their skills are applicable to a diversity of industries and often put them at the leading edge of new industrial advances.
In Computer science Engineering: Candidates who want to choose B.Tech in CSE must know that the course deals with the computing of the solutions. In simple words, identifying the problems and solving the same with the assistance of scientific and mathematical principles. Here, you do not work on physical tools and solve the issues through  digitally.

These days  the competition in Computer Science engineering has increased as Companies dont require your background analysis of whether you are from Computer science or not and in some companies they don't even wanna know whether you are even graduate or not, if you know how to code and have done some good projects in the profile you want to work.

Both stream has lots of opportunities and is interesting, it upto you which stream interests you more and take up that

Good luck
