Hi dear,

You can take admission in any branch through lateral entry.Few college such as IITs NITs does not allow lateral entry but you can apply for DTU,SRM.Your marks should be more than 60 percent in diploma for taking admission through lateral entry.

If you are asking about admission directly to the second year of Engineering course, IITs do not have the provision of lateral entry. You can apply for admission through the JEE main exam for admission to the first year B.Tech course.

It is difficult to predict your exact admission possibilities for NITs or the exact qualifying marks as the exam is being conducted twice in multiple session, The final NTA scores will be used to rank the candidates.

You can definitely get admission in top NITs based on your percentile of jee mains..but getting admission in NIT WARANGAL is quite difficult with Mechanical engineering branch.
But wait for the final result announcement of the jee mains.

According to new  rule in JEE the colleges will be alloted according to the Rank List which will be made on percentile which you got in JEE mains .

So the colleges will prepare their own cutt off according to that Rank List .
