Is coep is best for mtech ? or NIts?

Ananya Krishnan 15th Aug, 2021

Hello,

COEP was established in 1854, the third oldest college in Asia. According to the HRD ministry ranking of engineering colleges , COEP lands at the 21st position. NIT Warangal which is supposed to be one of the better NITs lands at the 28th position.

NITs get direct funding from the  central government which enables them to provide many facilities. COEP being an autonomous college has a good curriculum and well thought out syllabus.

Not all NITs are superior to COEP, but if you still want to go for an NIT then go for the top 10s or the old and famous ones over COEP. COEP is just as good a college, and being in the shadows of the IITs and NITs COEP's ranking and the constant comparison gives us an idea about the reputation that COEP holds.

Hope this helps!

I have scored 272 in Gate CS and scored 8.5 CGPA in my BTech and belong to OBC NCL category. Can i get selected for MTech CS in any good govt institutions? If not can anyone tell me some private colleges where I may get scholarship based on my marks or some cheap but good private institutions.

Manidipa Kundu Student Expert 10th Jul, 2021

hi,

see since you have qualified in gate exam, you are eligible for scholarship , while studying in private or government institute affiliated under aicte , you can apply for scholarship., remember that you must take admission for m.tech full time course to avail the gate scholarship.

now coming to the college admission at this score you have fewer chances for nits in cse departments. you may try for ccmt counselling but chances are less for even spot admission.

apart from gate, others m.tech exams are like ISI, IIIT HYDERABAD, bits hd are prominent exam when it comes for m.tech admission.

you may appear in counselling process like tspgecet, appgecet to get best possible chances for m.tech admission.

some of the best private institute for m.tech cs is as follows:

manipal institute of technology

SRM University Chennai

vit vellore

RV College of Engineering

PSG Tech Coimbatore - PSG College of Technology

NITK vs IIT BHU, which is better for MTech?

Purbayan Chatterjee 12th Aug, 2021

Hi Rajesh,

The answer to your question depends on the factors based on which you're judging the colleges. To start with, both of the institutes are amongst the best engineering institutes of India, and in fact, some of the surveys ranked NIT Trichy higher than IIT BHU, but that doesn't mean IIT BHU is less good.

IIT BHU is one of the oldest IITs and has state of the art labs and libraries, Sports and Research facilities, and excellent placements. Not to forget, the bright peer group you will be surrounded by.  And the most importantly the ‘IIT Tag’ that will make you most happy. Keeping in mind all of the above factors, IIT BHU will provide an unmatched experience for sure.

Now NIT Trichy won’t give you an IIT tag, but surely it would provide you with the best infrastructure and placement offers. Also, NIT Trichy has lower fees when compared to IIT BHU.

In the end, it all boils down to the fact what you really want... a branch of your choice or a college tag.

Choose wisely and all the best.

which is best btech or integrated mtech

TEJAL SINHA 2nd Jul, 2021

Hello aspirant!

Integrated M.Tech curriculum is a superset of the B.Tech curriculum.   The students of Integrated program study extra MTech level courses over and above the B.Tech courses. Both B.Tech and integrated B.Tech are good courses. However, students tend to do M.Tech in a different subject even after doing integrated B.Tech since for some kind of jobs, e.g., Faculty positions,  Patent Analyst, R&D work, MTech is the entry level minimum required qualification.

Integrated programme is good for you when you have to open your own tech startup.

my tancet score is 65 percentile and i come under sc category. will i get mtech environmental engineering in college of engineering guindy

Manidipa Kundu Student Expert 11th Aug, 2021

hi,

see admission to colleges of tamil nadu post graduate course like mba, m.tech is based on tancet counselling. the college is allotted based on gate score or tancet score. gate scorer has the priority and once gate rank wise counselling has completed , tancet score wise counselling begin. so it is quite difficult to predict college since it depends on the choice of streams, number of applicants for any particular trade, students category, seat matrix etc.

however since the college of guindy is demanding institute, your chances for securing seat is less at this percentile.

nevertheless apply for others colleges as well or again prepare for next year exam.
