see right now many university and colleges has become collaborating with the international mncs ,thus this is an extra benefits students are getting cause while studying they would experience the real world issues and work ethics in an mnc company. also they course would be more interesting and interactive

you can not change the stream. You had completed your b.tech in mechanical engineering so you can apply for mechanical engineering only in GATE. You can not go for compiter engineering. However you can joim seperate course for data science imstead of masters in computer engineering.
