I score 87.5percentile in jeemains march attempt. Im able to get admission in nit jamshedpur of cse branch . I belongs to SC category

Anurag Khanna 10th May, 2021

Hello Aspirant,

If we go through the analysis of marks Vs Percentile Vs rank for JEE-Main 2020 then according to the percentile mentioned by you in the question your CRL rank is expected to be in the range of 127875 - 143750 , you can check out marks Vs ranks Vs Percentile from the link given below :-

https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/jee-main-marks-vs-percentile

Or

You can also use JEE-Main Rank Predictor to predict your rank :-

https://engineering.careers360.com/jee-main-rank-predictor

As we go through the latest cut-offs of JEE-Main 2020 of JOSAA 6th round then it shows that :-

Closing SC rank for NIT Jamshedpur was :-

  • CS Engineering branch - 2864 (Home state quota)
  • CS Engineering branch - 1993 (Other state quota)

And your SC rank is expected to be around 7500

So you have no chances to get NIT Jamshedpur with CSE branch even if you have Home state quota.

But yes if you improve your percentile in any further session of JEE-Main like around 95+ then you might have a shot at NIT Jamshedpur with CSE branch.

You can check out the latest cut-offs from the link given below :-

https://josaa.nic.in/Result/Result/currentorcr.aspx

Note that the above prediction is made on the basis of latest cut-offs available on official website of JOSAA or CSAB and the cut-offs are bound to change every year depending upon various factors such as the number of candidates appearing in an examination, the number of candidates qualifying an examination, difficulty level of the paper, and so on.

ADITYA KUMAR Student Expert 10th Apr, 2021

Hi

With   98.95 percentile

It is difficult to make prediction but when we go through previous year trend then

Yes, you hold a very good chance to get a seat in NIT Patna and NIT Jamshedpur with your rank

For example,

Being from Bihar you will be eligible for home state quota in NIT Patna and In 6th round of josaa counselling 2020, under home state quota 15617  rank for gender neutral for general category got a seat in Computer Science in NIT Patna

Similarly,

In 6th round of josaa counselling 2020, under other state quota 14358 rank for gender neutral for general category got a seat in electronics and communication in NIT jamshedpur

You can check the same at

https://josaa.nic.in/Result/Result/currentorcr.aspx

Above prediction is on the basis of past year data but  cut off/closing rank for colleges keeps changing every year depending upon many factors like number of students that appeared in the examination, difficulty level of the JEE main question paper for different shifts etc so

can a gen pwd candidate with 24.4 percentile in jee mains get a nit with home state quota jharkhand nit jamshedpur.

Hrisheekesh Singh 30th Mar, 2021

Hi student,

It is next to impossible for a student with 24.4 percentile in JEE Mains with GEN PWD category and home state qouta to get admission into NIT Jamshedpur. As, NITs cutoff is very much higher than your score. At this much percentile your rank would be somewhere around AIR 777480 - 874000 that makes your entry impossible into NIT Jamshedpur.

how much percentage should one get in order to get into nit??

Anurag Khanna 9th Mar, 2021

Hello Aspirant,

See there is no any minimum percentile required to be eligible for admission in NITs for any category because the seat allotment process is based on the rank of candidate but if you are General candidate and wants to get into any NIT then you should at least try for 96-98 percentile in JEE-Main 2021 . See the qualifying cut-off percentiles which needs to be cleared by any candidate to sit in JEE-Advance is released along with the final result of JEE-Main and for JEE-Main 2021 the final result will be released after all four attempts will be completed and the final result will be on the basis of your best score amongst different attempts. However basis on previous year's cut-off trends we can help you with the expected qualifying cut-offs for this year :-

  • Common Rank List (CRL) - 90- 95 Percentile
  • GEN-EWS - 70- 75 Percentile
  • Other Backward Classes (OBC-NCL) - 70- 75 Percentile
  • Scheduled Caste (SC) - 50- 55 Percentile
  • Scheduled Tribe (ST) - 40- 45 Percentile
  • PwD - 1-2 Percentile

Note that in above table it is not the actual cut-off for JEE-Main 2021 but expected on the basis of previous year's analysis. You can check out previous year's cut-off trends from the link given below :-

expected cutoff for mechanical in iiit Hyderabad and nit jamshedpur in mechanical branch in year 2021

Abhishek Roy 30th Nov, 2020

As far as IIIT Hyderabad is concerned, it has no Mechanical Department as such. The institute specializes in technologies like AI, Computer and Electronics Technology, Robotics and Automation.

NIT Jamshedpur, is perhaps one of the best institutes in Eastern India for Mechanical Engineering, next to IIT Kharagpur and IIEST Shibpur. The institute has good infrastructure, faculty and employer outlook. Unless you are from Home State, you need a Rank of about 20k (GEN), to confirm your seat at NIT JSR Mechanical. For Home State Aspirants, a rank of atleast 30k is desired for confirming your seat at NIT JSR Mechanical. For more information regarding cutoff do follow the link below
