National Institute of Technology Karnataka Surathkal
Both are top colleges here first you will have to decide you branch preference if you are OK with mechanical then go with nitk surathkal as ranking wise it is better and you will have mechanical branch in case you like it and if you are cse oriented then without a second though go for ece mnnit as ranking may not reflect but mnnit is a far better college it has great coding culture and and is providing great placements so it finally depends on you on what you want to study hence choose wisely
Hi
Your profile suggest that your home state is Karnataka. I am assuming you are from general category
You will be eligible for home state quota in NIT karnataka i.e NIT Surathkal
This is a bit difficult to predict the rank required in JEE mains to get a seat as cut off keeps changing every year depending upon various factors like number of students that appeared in the exam, kind of marks obtained by them , toughness level of the jee main examination , number of seats available for the branch you want etc.
But yes,
When we go through previous year trend then ,
In round 6 of josaa counselling 2020 , 3115 rank was the closing rank for gender neutral for general category for home state in in nit Surathkal for computer science Engineering (4 Years, Bachelor of Technology)
You can check the same at
https://josaa.nic.in/Result/Result/currentorcr.aspx
So, you need at least around 3000 rank for computer science in NIT Surathkal under home state

Hi.
According to your rank i.e. 2001 Category rank you have good chances in following courses in NIT Surathkal:
(Highest to Lowest chances as per Round 6 of JOSAA and Female-Only Supernumerary seats included)
These are the branches that closed at approx. 2800 at 2600 ST Home State ranks.
I hope this helps.
Good Luck
The placements of CSE and Chemical/Core branches differ and that is because of the industry demands you will not be able to find any college where a chemical department offers CSE level placements other than the highly prestigious ones e.g ICT,IITB,IITD,IITK,IIITM. In your situation I can suggest you two things here if you want good placements:
Good luck, hope it helps!!
