National Institute of Technology Rourkela
Hey Swastik,
Every stream you opt out for should be of your interest. As, you have got options for more than one stream, first go for your preferred choice.
If you want to compare both the options you are getting, I would suggest you to choose NIT Rourkela as the first choice. NIT ROURKELA is one of the top NITs of the country, and it has a fairly high placement percentage. Rest all depends on your decision and your interest.
Wishing you all the best!!
I think unless genuinely interested in Mechanical Engineering, you should opt for Metallurgical or Chemical at NIT Rourkela. NIT Roukela is one of the Best NITs of India, and probably the Best when it comes to core branches. It has excellent faculty, infrastructure, facilities as well as a huge campus with excellent culture and college life. As far as Placements are concerned most of the Top Conglomerates like Tata Steel, Tata Motors, Reliance, Vedanta, Aditya Birla Group, JSW, Dr Reddys, Piramal Healthcare, Jindal Stainless, etc recruit exciting talents from NIT RKL Campus.
Secondly Metallurgical and Chemical Engineering are two of the most student friendly branches and have a structured curriculum as well as excellent scope if you have interest in Research. In case you develop interest in IT/Software/Non Core/Finance sectors, NIT Rourkela being a top NIT, provides excellent opportunities at par with IITs with most of the Top MnCs like Walmart, IBM, American Express, Goldman Sachs and Amazon opening for most branches during Internships and Placements.
A large number of NIT RKL Students move to Top US Universities or Higher Technical Institutes like IIT and IISc for pursuing Masters and Doctoral degree. Overall NIT Roukela has a better International and Employer Outlook, which perhaps might prove to be a factor in training and placement prospects.

Hi Aspirant!
According to your selection you are probably got the seat from Home State quota. And if we take back a look at previous year data there is a increase of rank 1000 in round 1 means it will surely be carry forward.Hence if we consider previous year last round cutoffs the closing rank in NIT Rourkela for CSE student is 3000 but it will increase to 4000 as per predicted above but still there is no chance of you to get the admission in CSE in further round .
I hope it helps!
Happy Hustlinf!

Hello Student,
Chemical Engineering at NIT Rourkela would be a better choice since it is a higher ranked university. However, when it comes to course mechanical engineering is a better option It would be advisable to fix the course before the university. Since both of them are NITs they are of the top institutions in the country. You can consider the following factors before choosing it.
Infrastructure and college life:
NIT Rourkela has a good infrastructure with well equipped labs and classrooms. Hostels are pretty decent and nice environment is always maintained. You can see that the campus life is going to be really well. College life is good with the right kind of atmosphere given to the students who come from different places.
Fa culty and quality of education:
All the faculties are qualified and experienced over here. And education, curriculum is made in such a way that students are made to acquire more hands on knowledge than just the theory. It is not just the books and classes. Focuses more on practical knowledge than the theoretical one. Education quality and the way guidance is given is really good.
Placements:
Placements are good as good companies visit this college. students gets placed and opportunities of internship is provided to the students from companies.
According to our website, It is a very good rated one.

Feel free to ask
Good Luck...
The NITs are institutions that allot admissions based on the JEE Mains exam. This exam is ranked based on the 12th boards and JEE Mains exam. Here, the 12th maths exam is also taken into consideration. NIT Rourkela is also one of the NITs that has to follow the same university. Hence unfortunately, no. It is important to have taken maths in 12th standard to get into NIT Rourkela
