NIT surathkal ranking for past few years is as follows (Acc. to MHRD) :

2015 - 3

2016 - 2

2017 - 5

2018 - 3

whereas for NIT Rourkela the ranking differ a lot with years.

i.e. NIT Surathkal is far more stable and better than NIT Rourkela.

When better alumni and good placements NIT Surathkal will always be a better institute.

According to NIRF obviously NIT Surathkal is having better rank than NIT Rourkela . So it will be better . But now it comes to rank . If you are having rank in which you can get  better branch in NIT Surathkal then you should go for it.  

It totally depends on you. If you are preferring college above branch then go for it. Or you can go for better branch.

The placements in the metallurgical engineering branch in NIT Rourkela are pretty decent. The average package for the metallurgical engineering branch is around 6lpa where about 80 to 85 percent students get placed. A number of students also opt out of placements to prepare for other exams and to pursue further education. hope this helps.

Hello Aspirant,  The food in NIT Rourkela is not bad despite of you are not from North India. They gave the different dishes everyday like choose Bhature, Biryani, Halwa,  Kadhai Paneer etc. There are two Halls CVR and KMS. CVR for girls and KMS for boys.

Dear candidate,

 NIT Rourkela has two hostels for girls.You will get one of the hostels based on your admissions in the Institute. 

For the first and second years students the room is shared by 2-4 students per room,but it has seperate cupboard, table,chair for each student in the room.

And after second year ,you get one room per student.

And many more. According to me  there is not a Mining company in the Country which don’t come to NITR. So you got a lots of choices.

There are some companies who require a minimum cutoff from the students whereas there are many companies who require more practical knowledge from the students.
