Why was there a huge increase in NIT trichy cutoffs in 2019. For eg. the closing rank for Mech was 14600 in 2019 (home state) but since 2016 it had stayed around 10k. Has it got something to do with the percentile system introduced in 2019? Can we expect a similar cutoff in 2020 as in 2019?

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 24th Jan, 2020

There are 2 types of cut offs namely qualifying cut off and admission cut off. Those Candidates who meet the qualifying cut off are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced. The admission cut off is the minimum score required to have higher chances at that particular institute. Now cut offs change every year depending on various factors such as Total no.of seats available. difficulty of the exam, previous years trends, no.of candidates appearing for the exam and no.of Candidates applying for a course. Cut offs decrease when the availability of seats is more than the Candidates applying. But there has been a steady increase of candidates applying for NIT Trichy than the seats available and hence the rise in the cut offs.

can i get admitted in NIT TRICHY for b.arch with 84.39 percentile in jee main paper 2, 2020 . I also have HS;SC; and female quota.

Vishwaksen Gouda Student Expert 24th Jan, 2020
Hello vadivelu,
Ad you have secured 84.3 percentile in the jee main paper 2 it is good.
To calculate the rank for B.Arch:
100 - your total percentile score is the percentage of people ahead of you. 112679 are the number of candidates appeared for January exam.
So rank formula is (100 - your total score) X 112679 /100
Your estimated rank will be 17690 crl rank . And your category rank will be differ from this.
The cut off for nit trichy for b.arch for SC category is 117 to 273 . It will be difficult you to secure seat in nit trichy.
Try to score above 97+ percentile to grab a seat in next attempt

I got 98.83 percentile in JEE mains jan 2020. Will i get mechanical in NIT trichy under home state quota?

Rishikesh Shandilya 24th Jan, 2020
Hello

congratulations for your success

With a percentile of 98.83 the expected rank will be around 10167. It is calculated by using the formula

(100-your percentile)*869010/100

With this rank you have of chance of getting mechanical with your state quota. As per last year case for MECHANICAL Branch for HOME STATE
Closing rank was 14600.
So it seems you may get the branch till last round jossa counseling.

Hope this helps you

Surya,

Your rank will be around 3774.
You can calculate your using the formula:
(100 - your total score) X 112679 /100.

(100 - your total percentile score) is the percentage of people ahead of you. 112679 are the number of candidates appeared for January exam.
If the number of candidates increase or decrease in April session, then your rank may change.
