I have got 91.658 %ile in jee mains January 2020. I want to get seat in nit trichy in civil engineering department. I am under ews category. Can i get or how many marks should u target for jee mains 2020 april?

Based on your percentile score your rank will be around 17,000. The cutoff rank to get a seat in NIT,Trichy civil engineering last year was 12000. Since, the number of cadidates appearing for the exam will increase in april so you tleast need to score 98.5%.

(100-your total percentile)*112679/100
112679 is the total number of candidates appeared for JEE main paper 2 in January session.
By Calculation it is (100-98.93)*112679/100=1205

To calculate your JEE main paper 2 rank,you can use the formula (100-percentile scored)*1384.10
So your rank is approximately 6960.The previous year closing rank for Home state and other state quota for NIT trichy for open category 2468 and 1075 respectively. So it will difficult to get an admission.But

The rank you required for NIT Trichy is depends upon your category like :-

for OBC it should be under 500 for SC it should be under 300 for ST also the rank should be under 300.

The above mentioned ranks are in their category rank.

Why was there a huge increase in NIT trichy cutoffs in 2019. For eg. the closing rank for Mech was 14600 in 2019 (home state) but since 2016 it had stayed around 10k. Has it got something to do with the percentile system introduced in 2019? Can we expect a similar cutoff in 2020 as in 2019?
