National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli
I am assuming that you wish to do your Bachelor's of Technology degree in Computer Science Engineering, if that is the case then your most ideal option is to choose International Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore.
Otherwise if you wish to pursue your degree in metallurgy then NIT is your place.
Based on the past trends your chances of securing a seat in Bachelor's of Technology (Mechanical Engineering) at National Institute of Technology, Trichy is bleak, considering your rank and quota.
However there are other campuses of NIT where you might get a seat in Mechanical Engineering easily. For more details, kindly visit the link shared below

Hello Kamal Kishor,
As an overview:
As you know today, the industries are switching towards automation, and manpower is losing the existence. The manpower is now only restricted in monitoring the activities of the machines. Therefore, machine design has a good scope. Now coming to Industrial Safety engineering, so this is an evergreen branch. But placement opportunities are quite less in this.
Now coming to the fact of college, so yes, college name plays a role at the time of placements, and NIT Trichy is considered as the best NIT of India for many years. Founded in 1964, it is one of the oldest institutions of the National Institutes of Technology system. The institute is located on a campus of 800 acres. NIT Calicut is not behind as well. National Institute of Technology Calicut, formerly Regional Engineering College Calicut, is an autonomous, federally funded technical university and an institute of national importance governed by the NIT Act passed by the Parliament of India. It is a good infrastructure, placement opportunities, and a very good alumni network and feedback.
Therefore, I suggest you go to NIT Calicut.
There are many placements as well as higher studies opportunities in foreign countries in machine design, especially in the automotive engineering field. Once you get into the subjects and start enjoying them the branch becomes very interesting. You can have the scope in Indian fuel companies, and other Research and Design department. Chances to get in the government sector are more as compared to the private sector.
Hope this Helps
Regards

Greetings Kamal!
Hope you're doing great.
The two stream which you have mention Machine Design and Industrial Engineering Management are both have decent job opportunities according to the current market. Let's directly compare the courses offered by both the colleges.
Machine Design at NIT Calicut: The next big thing in the campus after CSE/IT students is Mechanical branch. The faculty is very responsive and organise guest faculties from industrial experience. The college curriculum is top notch and extracurricular activities take place on a regular basis.
Eligibility: Mandatory Courses: B.Arch, B.E. / B.Tech, The candidate must have passed B.Tech./ B.E./ B.Arch. from recognized institute or university with the above-mentioned eligibility.
Infrastructure: It is a well-established college. Hence, it has very nice infrastructure for each department. Being the Institute of National Importance, funds come regularly to improve the facilities within the campus. We have a nice swimming pool. Sports grounds are also well-maintained.
Placements: For M.Tech mechanical are very poor. Only 10-13 students got placed in our batch and no one in the core industry. People got placed in coding companies and in teaching fields. Placements for B.Tech mechanical is around 60-70%. Placements for coding branches is more than 100% for all M.Tech, MCA and B.Tech degrees.
Industrial Engineering and Management at NIT Trichy: The quality of education offered at all the NITs is more or less similar. However, the teaching faculty att NIT Trichy for Industrial Management course is of par excellence.
Infrastructure: The college has the old infrastructure as well as the newly developed infrastructure. The classrooms are nice with new facilities. The library gives exposure to a wide range of sources.
Placements: You can sit for almost all companies which open up for Mechanical/Production specializations. Apart from that, placements come for Management related profiles exclusively for IEM. Data/Business Analytics, Simulation, Supply Chain are some core IE profiles which do open only for IEM. Overall the placement is quite nice. The highest and the lowest salary package offered are 9 LPA and 4 LPA. The internships are also offered and the stipend offered is about Rs. 20,000 to 30,000 per month. We have the placement cell, and it helps the students a lot.
Hope this will clear out things. Do reach out in the comment section below if you need any help.
All the best!
Hello,
According to JoSAA Counselling eligibility criteria for admitting to IITs, NITs, GFTIs the candidates must have qualified JEE Mains as well as cleared Class 12 with one subject as Mathematics with 75% for General category and 65% for reserved categories. So as you have 65% in board exam you must be belonging to reserved category in order to be eligible for admission. If you are eligible, then using you category-wise rank list admission procedure proceeds, there is opening and closing ranks for each course and category during several rounds of admission.
