Sharon Rose Student Expert 25th Mar, 2021

Hello,

Based on our JEE Main rank predictor tool the overall expected rank to be in between 286440 - 322000 . To check the overall percentile and rank you can use our JEE Main rank predictor tool: https://engineering.careers360.com/jee-main-rank-predictor/

Your category rank is expected to be around 70000. With such rank you cannot get seat in Computer Science Engineering in top NITs. You need to score minimum 97-98 percentile to get seat in the preferred branch in top NITs considering the previous year cut off. To score such percentile you need to score minimum 180-200 marks in JEE Main. I'm providing the link to check the cut off for NITs and IIITs so that you may get some idea about the cut off

1. Jee mains percentile predictor tool is completely off for March 18 first shift result. Why is it so and is there any plan to update the tool? 2. I got 191 yet my NTA score is 95.946 percentile. how is the score trend of the shift? 3. News was that question leaked - was any impact suspected?

ginnisachdeva02_9364270 Student Expert 28th Mar, 2021

Hi Anushka, The trend or normalization of marks vs percentile depends on various factors such as marks obtained by topper, difficulty level of exam, number of participants writing exam, etc. So, this might cause less percentile of 95.946 even with 191 marks in JEE MAINS 2021. And you can check out the college predictor tool given below once again:

Is 68% NTA for SC category Is good enouhh for NITs?

ADITYA KUMAR Student Expert 25th Mar, 2021

Hi

With 68  percentile

Your sc rank will be around 25,000.

With this rank you have very low have chances in NITs even if you are from SC category under state quota

For example,

Your profile suggest that you are from Manipur so you will be eligible for home state in NIT Manipur, which is one of the lower NITs

In 6th round of josaa counselling 2020, under home state quota 8128 sc rank  was closing rank for gender neutral for sc category in NIT Manipur and it was for civil engineering

You can check the same at

https://josaa.nic.in/Result/Result/currentorcr.aspx

Above prediction is on the basis of past year data but  cut off/closing rank for colleges keeps changing every year depending upon many factors like number of students that appeared in the examination, difficulty level of the JEE main question paper for different shifts etc so

To have a personalised report on your chances of getting a college you can go through our college predictor, it will give you complete list of colleges which you can get on the basis of the category you belong to,  your home state, your gender etc, the link for  jee main college predictor is provided below

My jee main 18th march shift 1 score is 101 but the percentile is 80(result declared by nta).Is this okay or any grievance to be done???

Subhrajit Mukherjee 25th Mar, 2021

Such problems are addressed by quite a number of students. Now the issue which yields lower percentiles with considerably good marks is the normalization. So if the paper of the shift is easier than the others then its expected that you will get a considerably less percentile despite of having good marks. This are the procedure of normalization and the decision of hard or easier is entirely depend on the definition of NTA.

So this is a reason behind this fluctuations. I would recommend you to attempt the further session of JEE MAINS.

I hope this might help. All the very best for your future endeavors!

is nta score and percentile same?

ADITYA KUMAR Student Expert 25th Mar, 2021

Hi

Yes, nta score and percentile is one and the sane thing.

Percentile  simply means the percentage of students  that have scored equal  to or below to that particular percentile in the JEE main examination

For example,

90 nta score means 90 percentile, that means you have scored better than 90 percent of students that appeared in JEE main   .
