You must compare prestigious Institutes like TIFR or IISc Bangalore, with likes of cheap Engineering Colleges around India, arranging for placements after Graduation. Students of TIFR are more into research and nearly 80% of the Batch moves to Higher Research Institutions abroad for a Post Doc after PhD, followed by a successful career in research. Even of the remaining 20%, many take up Research/Academic Positions in India with IITs, CSIR, DRDO as well as IISc Bangalore and many Top Drug/Chemical/Pharma Research Divisions. TIFR is a prestigious Institute, and you shouldnt really dream of getting cheap 8-12 LPA Placements after PhD, instead you should dream of getting indulged in research, make use of the opportunities and research and training facilities available at TIFR.

Yes, with Rank 660 in JAM BT, I believe you have fair chances in getting a Call from some of the IISERs, Like IISER Bhopal, Thiruvanathpuram or Berhampur, with comparatively less chances from IISER Pune, Kolkata or Mohali. Do follow their respective websites for regular updates regarding Merit Lists and other Details.

Faculities of department of mbiotech focuses on providing practical knowledge to enhance students problem solving skills. They also increase the adaptive thinking of students . Since it is 5 year integrated goals, they also teach students how to anaylse the given problem and work accordinly with proper tool. Since you will have lot of practical knowledge to write a decent research paper , so their is high chance you will get admission in phd after that in abroad

Hello,
According to previous year cut-offs and toughness of paper this year following are the predictions for the cut-off:
Electrical Branch -
General - 24 to 26
OBC - 22 to 24
SC/ST/PWD - 16 to 18
According to this, you will easily get qualified. Although it is tough to get admission in good IIT. Most probably you will get NITs may be you won't get top NITs but still in some of them you will be able to mange a seat. It becomes quiet difficult to get seats for general category candidates but you should not loose hope. You may put your first preference in your home state so that you may get preference over other state candidates.
I think you should explore other options. I think you can easily get other PSU's according to cut-offs.

see your biotechnology score is high compare to XL score in gate. HOWEVER you CAN MENTION BOTH OF THE SCORE IN GATE COUNSELLING OF ccmt. However I would suggest to apply for m.tech bio technology course since it is quite popular now and governments and private organizations are funding for biotechnology based research. based on previous years score analysis you have good chances for nit durgapur biotechnology stream.
