Admission to UG Programmes at Hemvati Nandan Garhwal University is based on merit scored in the 12th examinations. At this point in time, the official announcement for application process has not been released yet and so we can wait. Ideally candidates who are also appearing for their 12th can register for the admission process. By that time hopefully your exams would be completed. Right now, as the Corona Pandemic has caused delay in all admission processes, the University will also consider scheduling its date so as to match the 12th board exam results. Truth be told, there is no easy road when coming to UPSC. The selection proocess itself is so designed that the most smartest minds can get into the Administrative system.
UPSC is a 3 stage selection process involving Prelims, Mains and Interview which tests your personality test. Prelims has 2 Papers namely General Studies and CSAT.
General Studies has Current Events, History of India and Indian National Movement, Indian and World Geography, Indian Polity and Governance, Economic and Social Development, Environmental Ecology, Biodiversity and Climate Change and General Science.
CSAT has Comprehension, Interpersonal skills including communication skills, Logical Reasoning and Analytical ability, Decision making and problem solving, General Mental Ability, Basic numeracy and Data Interpretation.
But to pick up one subject among these two, Political Science can help you score better because Candidates who chose subjects like Sociology, Geography, Public Administration and Political Sciences scored better than the Candidates who selected other Subjects. No matter whichever subject you choose, you will need atleast to start preparing ahead of 1- 2 years. If you are preparing at home, you need to keep yourself away from distractions and focus on the goal ahead. Gather as much as information as you can on each topic and keep yourself updated. Practise mock test papers.
Hello,
Book gives information about something. it can be or may not be helpful to crack the exam. It is advised to follow the prescribed book for entrance preparation. if you are not feeling helpful then solve previous year papers and see if there is any question asked directly or indirectly from the book. You can also prefer reference books for more assistance for preparation.
Sometimes they ask questions directly from the book but it is not necessary they will do every time. So to crack a exam it is important to understand what you are reading. if you understand then you can remember.
Content can be lengthy but you have to prioritize as per your strength and read in such a way that it will be helpful for you.
Hope it helps!
