SSC and RRB exams have some difference. SSC have more complicated mathematics where as RRB has pretty easier questions. RRB focuses on a different set of Reasoning where as SSC have different kinds of it.
I would say if you want to prepare for both you can easily do that and for that I would recommend you to join a mock series which offers mocks for both kind of exams. You can go for Gradeup or Testbook for such exams. From their you will get the basic idea of the question and just go on building your knowledge from the books considering a basic idea from the question patterns.

The Union Public Service Commission conducts exam for Special Class Railway Apprentice (SCRA) program there are only 20 to 30 seats available. The UPSC SCRA examination comprises written tests in mathematics, physics, chemistry, English language, general knowledge, and a psychological test (mental ability). The selected candidates are called for an interview, which is followed by a medical examination. Full-Form of UPSC SCRA is Union Public Service Commission Special Class Railway Apprentices. Union Public Service Commission is a central level body which is a delegated authority for various recruitment exams for civil servants in India. The exam is conducted mainly for Railway service recruitment.
RRB Group D exam will be conducted from April to June 2021. These is a tentative date which you can follow, the actual date may change.

You can apply railway service examination which is known IRSE. If you are qualified thid examination then after interview you will be selected as an engineer in railway.
