Dear aspirant,
College Board has not prescribed the educational qualification for the candidates looking for appearing in the SAT exam. So, it is up to the students when they want to give SAT exam. The percentile varies from the courses and the universities from where you wish to pursue a degree. Mostly, it is seen that the students who have completed their school education (Class 12/Class 11) appear in the test. However, it doesn’t mean that the candidates who are graduates or who are in their high schools cannot appear in the test. Students from all age groups and all educational backgrounds can appear in the SAT test. Candidates are also advised to fulfil the educational qualification of the course and the college they are looking for admission.

Hello Saleenad!
Please keep in mind that getting a good SAT score doesn't guarantee the fact that you will get into MIT. You have to go through phases of hard interviews to ensure you get into MIT. Nearly 50% of the candidates that appear SAT have a 1400+/1600 score — so scoring in SAT is not like writing the JEE which guarantees a spot in top IITs/NITs/GFTIs based on a good score/rank. Moreover, International awards as in science fairs, Olympiad medals, etc. play a crucial role in your transcript if you want to get top universities like MIT , Harvard, and other Ivy League universities.
If you are dropping a year for preparing for JEE, there is no use to beat around the bush to get MIT because preparing for JEE means you must aim for a seat in IIT. If you want to ensure if there is any problem if you drop to prepare to get MIT, then it is a question that must be directly asked to the admission office of MIT. You must have noticed that very meritorious students like Chirag Falor(Jee Main rank 1) got into MIT this year for his undergrad studies. You need staunch letters of recommendation for building your transcript too and have to qualify in the interview apart from just scoring a high score in SAT.
Hope this answer helps you get a better insight! All the best for your future endeavors:)
It will be available in the month of October and date is 21 for early registration and late registration will start from November 5 and exam date is December 5, 2020.
Thankyou!
Wish u all the best!
