SASTRA university will be a good choice and if you are getting the college then it won't be a bad option though. With a median package of around 5 lakhs SASTRA is among Top private university. Amrita is also good university and gives equally good opportunity.

Both institutes are gud in sastra University median package is 5 lakhs,in this college students pursuing Computer related courses have a high chance of getting placed you get many opportunities and training for getting placed .Companies like Amazon,Microsoft,Zoho,Paypal,TCS etc,..nearly 50 companies visits the campus for recruitment.In this university 85% students placed highest salary package ECE 8 LPA lowest 3LPA.

According to VNR(Vignan Jyothi Institute ) median package 4.40lakhs,it is an excellent college ,and it provided very good placements in the year 2019,From the CSE branch ,more than 85% of the students got placed.The average salary package offered was 6LPA lowest salary paclkage 3LPAHighest package Offered 28.9 LPA CSE branch,Companies like Microsoft,Amazon,Deloitte.

Sorry to say you but actually this is a very good college with good academics and placements so to get a chance you should have lower ranks. I don't think that you will get seat in trending branches like cse er eve etv. But you may get a little chance

Computer science and business system and some specialised courses. You can also get here by management quota

Here I am amusing amrita comboitre so i will suggest you to go for Amrita university , because if we will check it's academic then it has well qualified teachers with all its other facilities . Further if we talk about placement then both the Universities are mostly similar. Whatever companies visit SASTRA also visit AMRITA . But in comparative note Amrita gives you more options .

Sastra University provides placements to almost 98% of the students of the Electronics and Communication Department.  Bosch, Rockwell Collins, CISCO, Caterpillar, COREEL,Cypress, TCS, CTS, Wipro, Zoho, Amazon, PayPal, L&T, Cognizant, Accenture, TVS, infosys are the top recruiting companies that visit the campus every year. These companies provide salary packages upto 8 Lakhs per annum. CISCO provided the highest salary package i.e., 29 Lakhs per annum. The average salary package for the students of ECE is 4 Lakhs per annum.

Coming to the query, yaa it is worth as a mechanical engineer nearly 60 percent of students are recruited in top companies like tvs, ashok leyland and caterpillar.

The highest package is 12.5 per annum and lowest package is 4.5lakh per annum as a mechanical engineering it was good at starting if the career.

The faculty are very supportive and interactive with us  to do anything. There are so many labs and equipments and as a mechanical student we must have a good practical knowledge.

As you have ranked 1260 you definitely have chances of getting allotted in the Information and Communication Technology.
