When it comes to UPSC there is no such restrictions in terms of belonging to specific stream, you just need to pass graduation in any discipline from a recognized university, there is no specific aggregate required this, yes coming from humanities background you may have advantage of being well -acquainted with the subjects included in UPSC syllabus, and there is considerable overlap with optional subjects as well as in case of law, economics, history, sociology, public administration, political science, geography etc, however if you go by previous year trends then toppers come from various background that of engineering, medical , commerce etc, hence your graduation subject isn't the only determinant factor for the success of UPSC.

I am currently preparing for jee. Which branch should I choose if I want to write gate exams. can a cse student give gate exam? Which Branch should be selected for public sector job.

Piyush kesarwani 18th Apr, 2022

hello aspirant,

I would like to tell you that you will get your branch in B.Tech according to the rank and cutoff marks you will score in JEE mains and JEE advance.

Further,I would like to tell you that Engineering / Technology / Architecture / Science / Commerce / Arts is eligible to appear for GATE 2022 examination. Those who have completed section A or equivalent of such professional courses are also eligible. There is no age limit criterion defined by the exam conducting authority to appear in GATE.

Also, if you talk about which is the best Engineering branch to give GATE Exam, then the answer is Electrical or mechanical are the best branches for GATE. But that doesn't mean that CSE or any other Stream student cannot give GATE Exam. any B. tech graduate from any stream can write the gate in any streams offered .

Mechanical engineers ,Electrical engineers and chemical engineers with good GATE score is mostly preferred by PSUs .

Further, if you wish to know more details regarding the GATE exam, then you can follow the below mentioned link to know more : https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/gate

Im a student of bsc biotechnology do I need to have a computer course which I can do now nd will be benefited in future?

thakurvishesh1 3rd Jul, 2022

See, a major field has erupted out of Biology, which is Computational Biology. Most of the highly regarded scientists or doctors which work in this field have a high knowledge of computers and can also code well in Python, as for research, Python is regarded to be the best programming language. Moreover, nowadays most of the advanced biological databases like FASTA etc require a basic proficiency in computers. So, doing a course in computers can definitely prove to be advantageous for you in the long run.

Hope I have answered your question. All the best!
