Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Patiala
WHY not? its completely worth it if it is the only choice available to you. IIIT pune is a great choice as compared to all those private institutions who do nothing but advertise great things about them but once you take admission thre you find nothing at all. On the other hand inspite of being new iiit pune despite of being a new one will give you a brand name of iiit and also great exposure to you moreover since the institute is new so the new and updated syllabus will give you an edge in future.
For change of branch preference order you might have to just contact with the dean academics of the institute and procedure of the same would be told by them and I guess there is no such thing like in person counselling possible in the institute moreover branch change facility is also available.
The National Institutional Ranking Framework NIRF. This framework outlines a methodology to rank institutions across the country.

Thapar University:
Thank you!!
Dear Abhinav,
Being a thapar student, the process is similar as of rest of the universities. Have some notebooks and pens or some stationary items which you wish to. You can carry your university ID card too, if you have got one or else you can collect it from the campus itself. If you are going for hostel or PG, then you can bring basic need of daily life like clothes, brush, toothpaste, the common things only.
Also, if you are opting for engineering courses, you can bring your laptop as well.
Hope this helps.
All the Best!!
Hi,
I think you should opt for Computer Science and Engineering at SRM, Chennai (KTR campus) as this institution is famous for the placement opportunities it provides for its students. Companies like Microsoft, Dell, Wipro & many other top organization offer placement opportunities to students over here & over 90% of students who sit for placements gets placed in good companies. The highest salary offered is around INR 42 LPA & the average salary offered is around INR 7 to 10 LPA. The quality of education is also very good & the infrastructure is excellent with good food, proper air-conditioned classrooms, labs & library. The former college is not bad but SRM is better as compared to it. The one at Thapar does not provide as good placement opportunity as KTR campus & the infrastructure is also not that great.

Hello aspirant
First of all congratulations for getting a seat at thapar university. You need to think it yourself , whether you are ready to devote a complete year for your better future or you want to start enjoying your college life . You need to think on it very carefully . Secondly you should also find whether your family can manage your study expenses if you choose THAPAR university . Next and most important thing , if by any means you failed to achieve a better college , you might loose a chance to study in such a nice college along with the loss of an year . Take these three facts into account and I hope you will get your answer.
I hope my answer helps
