Hi
To be a good thermal engineer you should be good in thermodynamics, heat transfer, Refregeration, Mathematics, differential equation, fluid mechanics. Many colleges in India offer thermal engineering. But go for good colleges. You can apply for priviate universities, they conduct there own entrance test.
Hiii
There are lot many factors that would decide the rank category,Date of exam, marks, exam slot so kindly refer the below link to try it

Hello datish,
Below I've mentioned two good books for understanding the topic better:
Introduction to thermal systems engineering, by Moran, Shapiro, Dewitt, Munson.
Thermodynamics - An engineering approach, by Cengel and Boles.
The topics like fundamentals of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, classical macroscopic thermodynamics and heat transfer are covered well in these books.
Hope this helps and all the very best to you!
Hi Jagadeesh, the cutoff varies every year based on various factors, number of seats available, number of test takers, difficulty level of exams, merit list etc. However to go with the past records, an AIR of 10000-14000 can get a seat in JNTU Hyderabad for thermal engineering, with a score of around 400-500 out of 1000 scaled score. You should have a score of around 30+ i believe to score this scaled score and rank as cutoff.
Dear Akhil,
For getting into such prestigious universities like osmania and jntuh in your interested branch ie., thermal engineering requires your rank to be around 250. So you must score a score of 75-80.All the best!
