You can do your preparation in either English or Hindi Medium. See UPSC has the upper age limit till 32 years. So if you can't start your preparation now, then also you have quite a good time.

Now if you are really passionate about the UPSC, then you can choose subjects as History, Geography, Economics, Political Science etc as your graduation subject. This will help you to gain basic to advanced knowledge about the subject and as this subjects are in the GS paper of the the UPSC CSE, then you will get some background about it. So you can choose this.

Apart from this you can make yourself accustomed to reading newspapers such as Hindu and keep a routine of study. The habit of persistence is the most important thing for a student who want to appear for UPSC CSE.

after completing my 12th which subjects should I choose in college for ias

Nisha 10th Jan, 2022

hey deepika,

It's depend on your interest mainly. It is not like that for UPSC you require a particular course, a recognized Degree from a recognized college is sufficient. Whether you want to join engineering, medical, arts, commerce It doesnt matter, but that course should be degree.

If you want to start upsc  preparation with degree then choose arts or alike because then you can get ample of time preparation and also somewhat similar subjects in curriculum as in UPSC syllabus.

If you go for Engineering there are many subjects so  you have to give so much of time in college study and activities.

Arts and commerce will be a always good option. But make sure that from first year start basic reading like NCERT and any news paper. So use of time in these crucial years will help you get your goal.

Best of luck!

i will work as ias officer in only one state

Drishti Yadav 9th Jan, 2022

Dear student,

It is not necessary that an IAS officer works in only one state throughout his/her lifetime the scenario keeps changing, the state or area in which they are working is assessed and they might be shifted to some other state as well. But initially at the start of career they have to work in one district for 8 to 10 years and gain experience , it totally depends on the quality of your work, also transfers take place but not too frequently.

what subjects are suitable for appearing IAS with B. des degree?

Subhrajit Mukherjee 9th Jan, 2022

No subject gives you an edge in UPSC CSE except what you are interested in and you invest your time in the preparation. So you have to choose the subject which interest you the most and can go with your B.Des Degree. See every year lot of students from Engineering appears for the examination but they don't choose an elective which is related to there graduation and still get selected. So its all about the preparation.

If you wish to take elective related to your subject of UG then there are no direct elective of Designing in the UPSC. You can choose correlated subject such as Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry but still you have to put a lot of efforts to this subjects as well.

Ashish Ramtari 31st Dec, 2021

There is no need to worry about tatoo for being eligible for Indian administrative services examination. This is because the Examination authority union Public Service Commission has not made any criteria related to tattoo for giving examination of Indian administrative Services.

The most basic eligibility criteria which you need to satisfy is to complete your graduation or post graduation from a recognised University for being eligible for giving Indian administrative services examination. There is also no restriction of how much marks you are getting in your graduation. The only thing you need is to just complete your graduation by passing it.
