Be confident first & start your preparation. There is nothing which we can not do. Its in our hands how we treat with ourselves. If you want to be an IAS officer then make it your passion & do start your hard work on your study. Don't be negative before

You should choose the course according to your interest and passion. If you want to go in civil services you should be determined to and self motivated to crack your exam. 

 

If you need a back up then if we compare BA and B.tech degree then B.tech have more scope

You should go for professional degree as a Plan B for your career because if you are not able to crack the Civil examination then you can start your career from the degree.

The sooner you start your preparation for the civil services the better it is. However, I would suggest that remain focussed, strategize well and properly manage  your time so that you are able to complete your B.Tech also as well as clear the UPSC exam also .
