what is the right way to crack upsc. at the time ,I am only 12th pass with science side maths

pdwords Student Expert 5th Aug, 2020
Hello,

As you have just passed 12th, so you  can start your preparation in gradual manner such as  being well acquainted with UPSC Syllabus, you can get it through the official website of UPSC,
, learn it by heart, that's the most vital step to crack this exam, to know what to read and what to skip. As per previous year trends even in prelims, UPSC frame questions based on Mains syllabus, so refrain from making a differentiation when it comes to preliminary and mains preparation.

Another important step you can start right now is start reading any newspaper like The Hindu, or Indian Express on a regular basis with a more emphasis on editorial part, and when it comes to reading books ,start with basics, for each subject, you can do with NCERTs for this.

So, as of now I'll recommend you go through the syllabus, read The Hindu on a daily basis and study NCERTs book in order to make your foundation strong, now in what way NCERTs will help, I've provided the details below;

For Prelims:

NCERT Class XI and XII History

NCERT Class VI to XII Geography

NCERT  Class XI  Economics

NCERT XII Political Science for International Relations & Polity

In GS Paper I for history, Class XI NCERT book is recommended.

These books are recommended for initial process to begin, there are other books as well, and more such detailed information but as of now when you'll be starting, go through all the steps I mentioned, doing everything at once may not yield good results, if you have any more queries,  do mention in the comment box below.

what are subjects for mbbs students in upsc IAS

pdwords Student Expert 5th Aug, 2020
Hello,

UPSC Civil Service Exam consists of three stages as follows

Preliminary
Mains
Interview

To give you a brief about the exam;

Preliminary consists of 200 Marks for each paper, it's in MCQs format, you just need to score the required cut offs against your category.

It consists of GS Paper-I including topics such as History of India and Indian national movement, Indian and World geography, Economic and social development- sustainable development, poverty,inclusion demographics, social sector initiatives etc,Indian polity and governance-constitution,political system,Current Events nationally and Internationally, General Science,General Issues on environmental ecology,biodiversity and climate change.

The second paper is  CSAT which is qualifying by nature,
you need to score 33%, that is 66 marks out of 200, it includes topics such as basic numeracy, comprehension, logical reasoning and analytical ability, general mental ability, decision making and problem solving, interpersonal skills including communication skills.

Prelims marks are not added in the final list,

Coming to Mains it's more of a subjective type, one needs to write answer for Four General Studies Paper such as

GS-I includes Indian Heritage and Culture,History and Geography of the World and Society,
GS-II includes Governance, Constitution, Polity, Social Justice and International Relations,
GS-III includes Technology, Economic Development, Bio-Diversity, Environment, Security and Disaster Management,
GS-IV includes Ethics, Integrity, and Aptitude

Two Optionals, One Essay, two language paper, there are total nine papers here. 250 marks for each paper, total is 1750 marks followed by Personality Test of 275 marks.

Now, coming to your question, the structure of UPSC exam of three stage remains same for every aspirant whether they belong to medical, science, engineering, art, etc.

If your query is regarding medical science as an optional subjects, then it consists of two papers;

Paper I has the following topics;

Forensic Medicine and Toxicology

Paper II has the following topics:

I've stated the core areas of two paper, the syllabus of medical science is too vast and due to word limit I cannot provide more details, but I will request you to go through this year official notification at https://www.upsc.gov.in/sites/default/files/Notification-CSPE_2020_N_Engl.pdf to know more details regarding this.

whether to do bcom(hons) or BA for upsc

Mohit Gupta 4th Aug, 2020

Hello Aspirant

Basic eligibility for UPSC is just that you must be graduated in any field, either its bcom honors or BA, it doesn't matter at all.

If you have completed your class 12th with commerce stream then you can go for bcom honors and if you did it in arts stream then you can choose BA in your graduation.

The main thing matter is UPSC prepration, you need to study hard to clear all the concepts from basics to advance level.

I hope this information would be helpful for you.

All the best for your bright future ahead
