In 2017, AIPVT exam has been replaced by NEET for taking admissions in veterinary course by VCI. VCI will use the merit list of NEET UG 2019 to seat allocation to the recognized veterinary Colleges.
Thus, neet is necessary if you want to be a veterinary doctor.

There are many options after completing BVSC programme, It depends on your interest. Both government and private sector have plenty of jobs for veterinarians. Defence services like the Border Security Force, Remote Veterinary Corps and police forces use dogs, horses etc. for security and transport purposes.
A number of government bodies like the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Ministry of Agriculture, animal husbandry departments, disease investigation and control centres, public health laboratories for examination of meat, state vet farms, state vet hospitals are some of the places a vet could find a suitable position.

Admission Criteria varies from college to college. Some colleges take admission on the basis of entrance test conducted by the state authoritie. Admission to 15% All India Quota seats of veterinary colleges is done on the basis of marks obtained in the NEET UG exam.

The minimum duration of Bachelor of Veterinary Science or B.V.Sc. is 3 years and maximum duration is 5 years.
It is an undergraduate program for the students who have passes 10+2 in the field of Physics, Chemistry and Biology with the minimum of 55% aggregate marks.

Veterinary admission for 15% quota seats will be through NEET Entrance Exam & rest of the seats admission will be through state entrance Exam.
In order to apply for NEET you should be passed class 10+2 PCB with aggregate score of 50% as a General category & 40% as a reserved category.

Admissions to the undergraduate course take place through the MHT-CET conducted by the state of Maharashtra. Counselling conducted by DTE, the body administering MHT CET must be mandatorily attended by the applicants to gain admission at Bombay Veterinary College. However admission is offline mode you have to pesonally go there and The application forms and prospectus can be obtained from the college admissions office for a fee of Rs. 500 to be paid by cash or demand draft in favour of “Comptroller, MAFSU, Nagpur” payable at Nagpur.
